What does "fits a 30x30" plot mean, how big is 30x30? Is that size in metres?

Yes... land is measured in metres, in multiples of 16 sq m (4x4 blocks).

A 512 plot is usually 32m x 16m, although check the borders before buying (CTRL SHIFT ALT P toggles on boundaries) to make sure it's not a wierd shape.

yes, it's in meters. 900 square ones of them.

although the question has been answered i'll post this anyways for the benefit of people reading this thread later...

an 'edit land' tile (one little yellow square), is 4x4m, or 16 square meters. 32x32 is the standard 1024 square plot, while 16x32 is the classic 'firstland' 512.

so if somebody has a plot and wants to know how wide it is, they can right-click the land and select 'edit land' from the pie. the selection tool will then be active by default. they can then start counting the number of tiles. if it were 8 tiles across then the number 8 would be multiplied times 4 (since 1 tile is 4x4m) to get 32. the parcel would be 32 meters wide.

Back when I was selling Mainland, I wrote a small patch to the viewer, to show the x, y and total area of any selected part of the terrain, in the same way a prim being edited will show the x, y and z coordinates.

Maybe I'll fix it up and submit it.
