I am not aware of what Princeton was doing with SL, but no matter how bad it was, condemning the use of SL as an educational tool because it is "creepy" is like condemning the Internet as an educational tool because it's full of pr0n.

SL is a tool. Used with some thought, it can be very effective. Used because everybody cool is using it leads to some pointless and confusing content. Blame the builder, not the tool.
