New Fees for paypal

If you cash out money back to PayPal, does in go to your account as "payment for goods or services" (there are a few ways the payment can be designated)? If so, that really sucks for the people that cash out here.

What other option do people who use the LindeX have, other than Paypal? So, if it's applied to that, then we're all screwed.

If you think PayPal is nickle and diming customers to death, try having an ecommerce web store. RL businesses everywhere are hurting and their answer is to raise prices and fees on customers -- without providing any new services or added value. Paypal executives and shareholders need your cash!

When did The Government take over PayPal?

While it seems they did add new fees for Personal Accounts, nothing has changed for Premier or Business accounts as far as i can tell. I have a Premier account, and I can tell you that money transferred from LL to my PayPal account never incurs fees. And to be honest, I'm not sure why, but it never has. This should not effect anyone, or I would have been paying fees every time I transferred money to my PP account.

So.....short story, nothing to worry about here, it does not effect us at all.

I used to work at PayPal, by the way. Personal accounts were never supposed to be used for selling, but some people want something for nothing and will stop at nothing to try and achieve that. To be honest, you can't have a Personal account and sell on Ebay anyway, and you can't receive hardly any money in a Personal Account before being bumped up to a Premier, either.

So really, it's a non issue. But people love bitching about PayPal.

A money transfer is free if it comes from a PayPay balance, and since LL uses their balance in their PP account, that explains why there is no fee to transfer money from your SL account to your PP account.

The postings to the blog are interesting. No I certainly aren't blasting paypal as we use them daily and have had no problems from them, however as in all things I would advise people to check their paypal charges for sure

Without independent oversight of any kind, companies such as Paypal that operate like a banks but are not banks are going to be able to do as they please and that is why I will never do business with any of them.
Banks are evil enough and they have some independent oversight. Really a first step needs to be that these services should be licensed and brought within the same classification as banks.
Then the banking industry needs rebuilding from the bottom up - but that is another story and not likely to happen until we make a lot of changes about the way we allow ourselves to be governed. I am talking worldwide here and not just pointing at the US.

It is not just a matter of wanting to bitch about PayPal and for non-business folks it is not necessarily a "non-issue". What if someone just wants to cash out of SL, only has a Personal PayPal account because they are usually paying with PayPal rather than putting money into it? First they have to pay a transaction fee on the exchange of L$ to US$ and then they'll have to pay this PayPal fee to get their cash. And PayPal already charges for some methods of getting your money out of your PayPal account.

And the biggest issue is really more the way they sort of slipped in the new fees, almost hiding them.

Thanks - that was really my main question -- whether the money from LL to our paypal account went thru as us receiving money for goods / services and would therefore incur the fee.

They can bend you over and will keep doing it. Pay Pal stands alone no one else does what they do.
