As title says, yea I know the old adage 'no such thing as a free lunch'. But I've seen offers mentioned from time to time about offers for free shop space at malls , or whatnot, and was just a little curious.
Me and a real life friend are thinking about trying to get into selling few things together. I have a Xstreetsl store I sell a few items from. But I had heard about some supposedly "freebie" malls that had lowprim shops newbie store owners could use.
it would be for me and my friend who would be I guess labeled 'business partner', of course I'm mainly just curious if anything like that existed still or whatnot.
Any advice or locations of these 'malls' would be appreciated, search nowdays is so full of spam especially using these search terms hehe. Just curious what people may think.
Thanks for any advice.

i've seen some malls (shopping sims) offer genuinely free space to well established (popular) stores. Mostly because it helps the mall. Being able to list that you have a stall for X-number of top designers at your mall helps improve your search result. Not to mention those creators might link to your mall in their own profiles or classifieds...
i've never actually heard of a mall offer a no-name or newbie store free space (unless it was the mall owners friend or something)...
Still, if someone does offer free space to newbies, just don't sign over your objects to the mall owner or give the mall owner mod rights on your items and stuff.. if you don't do those things i don't exactly see what the "risk" could be to you..

I have found several low cost rental areas in shopping malls or shopping sims. I usually see them as I go around shopping for clothes. Sorry I never bookmarked them or bothered to remember those. I honestly wouldn't know a good way to search for those either. Try searching for 'newbie rentals' or 'under 30 days' or 'newbie stalls'.
You might want to check the classifieds on this forum, maybe the classifieds at the xtstreet forum too. And there's the other online shopping site Onrez that you can sell your items on. That doesn't have a forum.

Some malls DO offer a limited amount of free space to novice merchants. I know that the mall in "The Forest" sim used to, (before that sim got trashed and completely reorganized by a certain land baron). And I think Serenity Woods may still offer some starter spaces for new merchants. Other malls probably do as well.
The idea is that if they give someone new a chance, it increases the mall's variety, and that new merchant may eventually move into one of the better-located paid spots in the mall.
It's how I got my own start as a merchant...

The main thing is to make sure you're there ready to put all your products back as soon after the auto-return as possible as (at least when I used it) there are a limited number of stalls. I liked the concept though.

There are a lot that offer free space for first month or 2 weeks. Most of the time those have no traffic and or just starting out and trying to fill it with tenants. You might be able to find commission based shops like at my mall(% split from all sales). But your product has to sell or you will be moved out.. Which is why we do heavy screening before moving one in.
Malls are a dime a dozen now.. I guess the number 1 building in Sl would be a store front/shop/mall lol
