Sorry if this has been answered a hundred times already, but ...

I am about to rent my first shop and I don't know how to make it appear in the 'All' search listings. Not classifieds - just 'All'.

I hate to ask newbie questions, but for this kind of thing, I AM one!

Thanks in advance.

Other than classifieds you need to make sure that your shop's land is set to show up in the 'Places' search. That's a land property so your landlord might have to set that. Then all objects in your store should have proper names and descriptions and should be set to show in search. When you set your items on sale they will automatically be set to show in search. I suppose you should add things to your profile as well.

Yes, do please include a link to a shop (at least one! :)) in your profile if you want visitors :) I have a tendency to visit OnRez and Slexchange and then look in world for a shop. Mostly by looking at the listed avatar name that had put the product up on those services. If I do not see a link in the profile I will just assume that the advertisement on OnRez/etc. is outdated and that the person is no longer in business.

Torley Linden did one of his Video tutorials on this subject - basic stuff, but good background as to how it works. You should be able to find it on the blog or on YouTube.

One thing he says in it doesn't seem to apply though - he says that if you have objects for sale and the objects are set to appear in search, you also have to have the Region option set to make the region appear in search.

Unless I'm very much mistaken this doesn't seem to be the case - our two islands aren't set to show in search, but the items that we sell certainly do.

Can anyone give more insight into this?

Once I have done these things, how long will it take for the database to register the changes and actually show the items in Search?
