I think he means like a Virtual Reality Suite, where you can seriously experience everything as though it were real...

In that case, I'd have to wonder what sitting on a pose ball would feel like!

That might be ok, but I sat on an "unlucky chair" the other night...got decapitated, electrocuted, and run through with a spike.... think I'd pass on that in a VR experience...

I've often thought about the technology that would be needed to make this happen. Obviously you would need some kind of visor, but that's probably the most straight forward of your problems. To be able to walk in rl as if you were in SL, you would need some kind of 3D conveyor belt so that you can continue walking in SL without displacing a great distance irl. The conveyor would need to not only send information to SL about the direction and speed of the person, but information would have to flow in the other direction too, to inform the 3D conveyor of the changing 3D terrain under foot in SL, and so replicate that terrain under foot rl.

You would also need some kind of glove that records the movements of your hands. Maybe there will be even technology possible in the future which replicate the 'feeling' of having an object in your hand by a mechanical process within the glove.

actualy, that ca nbe possible, over in japan they made a shirt with pressure chips that would let other users send hugs over long distances to the other shirt wearer

Dude, you are a true and good friend, and I love you like the brother that my mom claims she never had, but you are in fact acting like a flaming douche on white toast with a side order of dickknob salsa..maybe you should reconsider this course of action and we go find something else to do.

That's true. Nor do I want to feel my head folded up into my ass either.

Also, my av rarely sits down and dances a lot. That sounds like way to much work for me.

would be kinda cool to feel my molecules disassemble and reassemble after teleporting. But I have no desire to feel whatever Ruth feels. She just doesn't look very happy.

And Kiboe, next time you have drugs like that, please share.

Life at 45 fps maximum? Hmmm....
Doing the ten-finger macarena while talking?
Clothing that glues to your skin?
Colliding with invisible objects?
Falling through the visible floor?
A world where 5% of the people you encounter are singing "Bananaphone" continuously?
Dancers interpenetrating (not in fun ways)?
Cars that explode every 255m?

but the winner is:

Sexual congress including not just penetration but "exit wounds" on the other side? Probably not a big selling point except for some rare ummm... *very* extreme types.

You are describing a giant track ball - or inverted mouse, sort of. That might just be doable.

There's also the news about the paralyzed people who can control a curser by their thoughts via an implant. That technology is here. If it becomes generally available it's "Matrix, here we come."

Or, what about the "Head up your Butt" Bug? The possibilities there are just Too grim to Contemplate. :D

This is how pose balls would be used IRL (the characters seen in this video are SL newbies transformed to RL avatars):

If there was a way to put me in a coma and hook my brain up to SL. I wouldn't hesitate to live there. Despite all the flaws I like the ability to fall 1000m and just give it a brush off.
