I would like to take some pics of my av in some of her outfits to show my non-SL friends and I am clueless. I have a folder full of poses. What's the best way to manage the poses? Should I just load them into a regular AO HUD as standing poses and then "next stand" my way through them?
I would like for the snapshots to be "outdoors" (as opposed to in a studio, which I can't figure out for the life of me anyway). Does anyone have any recommendations for nice places, like natural locations, cities, just anything? One problem I have with locations like a grassy area is that the feet sink into the ground, which looks weird. Thanks!

I keep my "Modeling poses" seperate and just activate the individually when I am taking pics, mainly because I am too lazy to load them into an AO. As far as the feet sinking in problem, that does happen. If the location is a must, I will rez a prim, make it transparent and stand on it to elevate my avi just enough to bring her feet up.
As far as locations go, Search is your friend. Have a favorite city? Type it's name into search and see what comes up. The same goes for any setting you may want. Type in a keyword and see what comes up.

I know some people use a pose HUD just for this, but so far I have not used one. I just double click the animation in inventory and play from there. I did a quick look on Xstreet and found a few. This one looks like it might work OK.

Re: feet in the ground. The Emerald viewer has a place to specify an offset to apply to your avatar. It could be X, Y and Z. I have mine set for +5 cm on the Z axis so it raises me up just slightly.
The places you go and suddenly sink up to your ankles are a little different. Just sitting on something and then standing up usually fixes that for me.

Brenda, how do you rezz a prim if it's not land where you have permission? Not that I know how to make a small prim anyway.
Rhonda, thanks, that's interesting. I had noticed that sometimes my av sinks into the ground and sometimes she doesn't, which never made sense to me. I can just try sitting then standing. I do like forest settings.
The thing I hate about going through my poses is that I end up with a screenful of those little boxes for each pose. One set of poses I got came with a nice HUD, but apparently the notecard in it is locked and if I clean the HUD out I'll have to make a notecard from scratch (because it would not work w/o one). That one on X-street seems to imply that it does not need a notecard, so I would have to look into that. Probably they all do need notecards.

Yes, the no build thing does pit a kibosh on the prim idea, I didn't think of that.

If all the HUD is going to do is walk through the list of poses with just a "next" and "back" option, there is no need ofr a note card. I have a little dance HUD I made that picks out a random animation and plays it for a random amount of time. No need for a notecard because the script can look at the object it is in and see how many things are in it and what sort of thing it is. The HUD will only keep track of what number is currently playing. If you want to break it up into groups, like sitting poses, model poses, rear view poses ... that will HAVE to be done with a note card.

Places to see:
Fatima's Desire - Victorian era sims. Mostly residential with lots of public walkways and small parks or beach areas.
Urban Dare - It is a store but get up to the roof top or otherwise just look around. Sort of a Blade Runner feel.
Coyote Lodge (if I remember the name correctly) - nice ski resort look. It is winter all year long there.
Bedrock - Fun and whimsical. It is a Flintstone's themed build.

I was unable to load my animations into the model HUD I had, but that could be because I deleted something it needed to work. I realize that now, AFTER I've spent lindens. Luckily I only spent 29 of them.......on a HUD from Xstreet that has a pixelated, primitive GUI but it's working well. TY for the location suggestions. I am very interested in them!

Great; I start a thread with an innocent topic and now I get a song that I can't stand stuck in my head. It'll probably take me 2 or 3 days to shake that off.

TY again for the beautiful locations! And Rhonda, it worked! I came into Damania ankle-deep, and stayed that way even walking around, but I sat down and stood up and it was fixed.

I don't know if it still exists, but the Gardens of Apollo was always a beautiful place, as was Kalepa sim, (home of a Da Vinci-theme experience. Switch to night view and check the fireworks at the foot of the main staircase). And you can't go wrong with any of the Reflections sims. A map search for Midnight Reflections will locate any that still exist. Also the Bliss sims )home of the Bliss gardening empire) were always good for outdoors shots - more plant life than you can shake a stick at. Failing all else, the waterlilies at Tempura Japan are spectacular all by themselves.
