I am an admin of a sim.. someone was breaking sim rules and when I IM'ed him he basically told me to go to hell and became abusive so I banned him.. he came right back and I banned him again. The next time I tried to ban him I couldnt... I did a report to Linden labs but didnt know how to classify it or explain it.

Has anyone any knowledge of this or can they provide ways to deal or circumvent it? We just want a place where people can have fun but something like this is vexxing espcially when the buttpipe wants to come back and taunt you afterwords

Sounds to me like the person was using a hacked viewer (client) which does allow them to get around certain permissions. not sure what the best solution at this time is to prevent it from happening again.

if the sim is broken into parcels...and you banned him by clicking on him and ejecting, he can still return to the sim on another parcel. He would probably land on the next parcel to the one youd ejected him from.

If you are an estate manager for the sim, the best way to do it is to open the estate manager tools..and ban him from the WHOLE estate.

I think access is controlled at the sim level. A hacked client *should* not be able to let you do that...

If there was such a hole that a hacked client could exploit, I expect LL would be pouncing ion it pretty quickly.

Sounds like a situation for which all of those nifty extras that come packed in a mystitool might come in useful. Don't the good ones have scripts that will orbit, and such?

That's just asking to get ARed and suspended yourself.

No, if you are on the mainland, likely you won't be able to get rid of the miscreant.

If you are on a Private Island, add him to the Estate Ban List (as described above). That should get rid of him for good.

Also, put him on mute, and then AR him for Harassment. One AR won't usually cause the Lindens to do anything (unless he REALLY has found an exploit, then they should be all over him like ugly on an ape (no offense to the apes in the audience -- you all are really cute -- in your ape-ish sort of way :D )). However, if he starts accumulating lots of ARs for the same behavior, the Lindens will eventually act to boot him from the service.

I think people have been complaining to Linden Labs about this -- I am sure I saw something in Prok's blog about it, and there have been mutterings in the Concierge Group -- but the response, apparently, is "can you replicate this for us?", which, of course, without a hacked client or a co-operative griefer, isn't that easy.

If there is a hack, I guess it involves somehow getting the viewer to bluff the sim that you've got "God mode" activated.
