trading spaces (no not the TV show)

I was wondering if anyone knows of any places that trade spaces. By that I mean one store owner will trade a spot with another store owner for cross trafficking.

I have been thinking about doing something like that.

My idea was set up a table, and trade that space (1 prim) with another store owner for a space at their store (1 prim) where we would each be able to showcase an item from our own store. In hopes of getting cross traffic from one another's store.

The item displayed can be a freebie or something they have to pay for, either would be fine. Can be similar type business or something totally different.


If I were do this, how and where would be the best place to promote it? In here? in the sales section? wanted section? rental area?

(and no this is not a thinly veiled attempt at advertising, as I am not even sure I will do it)

If it were me, I *wouldn't* promote it, but rather be very selective about which other merchants I contacted with the offer. I think it's a very good idea--and, frankly, I think it's an even better idea taken to an extreme, where perhaps a "ring" of collaborating designers create a kind of "movable feast" for shoppers to explore a variety of stores. But, you know, it's still your store, and you'd kind of want the other merchants' display(s) to somehow compliment or supplement your own product offerings.

I considered this a short while ago with my harbour on my land. I have there about 8 different boats which I bought from a creator only for display purposes to fill the harboour. I contacted them re placing some sales sign etc etc to sell the boats and I never actually heard anything from them after the first IM which in my opinion was a shame.
I was not interested in renting the land to them but perhaps discussing a placement fee or a commission or something on the sale of any boat there but no response.

of course I would be selective, would not want someone coming in with, for instance, business in a box stuff heh

the reason I ask about promoting, is I would not want to just approach others unsolicited, I do not like when it is done to me, so not gonna just drop notecards on folks like that.

larrie I sell mainly women's and kids clothings, some footwear, a couple skins, some body modification, and a few prefabs

I was looking more for ppl who want to trade spaces, so we could showcase each others stuff
but am open to your idea as well (I do have a catalog at my store that folks can take and rez that will give them a commission on each sale)
