I've been trying to log in for 15 minutes now, and keep getting the "Login packet never received by the server" message. Is this happening to others as well, or am I just lucky?

Well since no one else has answered this, I'll give it a shot. It sounds like your internet connection is a little shaky. Obviously you can use it to post here but maybe you're losing too much information along the way for SL. You can run a quickie test on your bandwidth/speed here:

http://www.dslreports.com/speedtest

just to check it out. Also, try calling your Service Provider and tell them what's going on. They'll be able to run diagnostics on your line.

I had this happen, it happens when the Island or Sim you logoff from or your home point was down for maintance/or offline ( this occured resently when their was a failure on llabs side ).When you try to log into the same location. Try logging into another location on sl. More times then not........ it will work.

Look at this..............this causes Login packet never recieved..." http://blog.secondlife.com/2007/11/02/sf-hosted-regions-service-outage/

Open a support ticket. In my case, it was not my internet that I know of as Linden themselves had the same error.

Are you by any chance in the UK/Europe?

There is NO point a US based Linden checking this for you if it is a Euro based issue ... in my case Andrew was really helpful, he was also in the UK, he also had the same problem. Then ... fixed ...

Open a support ticket :) Have a chat with them also. This is assuming you have access to support.

***edit*** in my case the above cause and remedy did not apply - I am only giving you what worked for me.

Try logging into a different region by name.

Oh, I did try logging into a different region by name, tried all kinds of things, speed test was fine... the problem just eventually... "went away". [shrug]
