Last week I had a Japanese week and enjoyed myself exploring and shopping and checking out some super builds.I was in this cute mall and went up some steps into another store and a pop up came on the screen.access denied ,you need to to be age verified to visit here.there was a link to the verification page,
WTF, I am 3 years old payment on file and have never seen this before,I TP'd to Zindra post haste and had no problems .What's happening here? can an owner change the settings ?

Age verification has been glitchy for awhile. Do note though while zindra condiers both POIF and age verification the same thing, someone can make a plot age verified only (which does not equate to PIOF there). Best advice for PIOF: make sure you are age verified too if you want to maximize where you can go.

Yes, confusing. You expected better from LL?

Yes, it's a parcel setting which predates the policy changes of this summer/autumn. It's a hangover from when they first introduced the Aristotle system. A parcel owner can deny access to those who are not age verified, those who are NPIOF or both.

While PIOF will get you to Zindra or any other Adult sim, it won't get you onto PARCELS that the owner has restricted to age verified only, whether on Adult or Mature land (I think even PG land can be set this way).
There has been a lot of confusion about this. Some seem to think they can carry on doing Adult stuff on Mature if they restrict their parcel in this way, others seem to think they have to do this even if their parcel is on Adult land. Then there are those who do it just because they are gits (IMHO ;) ) ... it's just another flavour of banlines.

There is a jira somewhere for this setting to be removed because it is obsolete and confusing.

...and to solve your immediate problem, you need to Age Verify. It's the third item in your Account Summary.

Once you've age verified, try going to that place again. If you STILL can't get in, it's a glitch, which sometimes happens. File a support ticket with LL.

Confusion is wall-to-wall in this.

I've come across quite a few sims that had set the land access to Age Verify as well as setting the region to Adult.
Most of them removed the land access setting once they understood the difference.

There may be confusion within LL as well (surprise!)

The last person I queried on their settings said to me:
"yea.. they told us we had to set age verify..and set to adult.. or delete most of it.. or move to mainland adult sims.."

I was well aware of the differences and the requirements from the word go.
Just a while ago, I checked what someone would see if they started at the secondlife.com home page and looked for guidance.
It's a total mess (surprise!).
It takes some digging to find the information. They really have screwed up the whole website.
The terminology is confusing "Maturity Settings ", "Adult", "Age Verify".

If the searcher is lucky, they might see this page before being totally confuses by some of the other possible search hits:
http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Linden_Lab_Official:What_are_the_different_types_of_Account_Verification%3F

*sigh* Just try making that URL clickable here using the IMG tags and /? ....... It becomes clickable OK, but WIKI gets sick.

From: Start of that page, before it starts to get confusing

In order to access Adult Content in Second Life, your account needs to be verified.

You may have heard the terms "Account Verification" and "Age Verification". While related, they are in fact different! Here's what you must know:

* Account Verification is an umbrella term which contains different ways of being Account-Verified.
* Having "Payment Info on File" means you're "Account-Verified" , but not necessarily "Age-Verified". You can be neither, either, or both. For example, if you purchase goods from Xstreet with a credit card, you have Payment Info on File status, and are "Account-Verified". But, you're not Age-Verified unless you explicitly go through the Age Verification process. .....

Conspiracy theory would suggest that LL don't explicitly say "You don't have to Age Verify if you have Payment Info On File" so that as many people as possible will be fooled into Age Verifyng.
I think it's just the usual ineptitude.

Sherlock Holmes would probably have said, “When you eliminate all other possibilities, no matter how probable, what remains is LL."

The other nite was on a hunt. And went to go to the next place. Well said I couldnt cause I wasnt verified. Now I have been verified and have PIOF on me. So that kind of confused me.

Which is ok but still has me wondering what or how that happened.
