We're about to get U-verse.... As I understand it, the first roll out of AT&T U-verse was in Texas.....and Florida is second on the list. Apparently we'll be getting a much better deal with cable and internet then we did with Comcast (because of course after the 1st 12 months all the prices go back to their originally intended format, not the sign-up deal they suck you in with lol) Anyway.....U-verse is supposed to have a fantastic cable internet connection (and the cable TV functions look great) but I'm wondering if we might have ANY peeps out there who have gone to U-verse yet? I'm gonna assume with a cable connection from AT&T that SL is going to run just fine... then again, if there's a glitch I don't know about with U-verse....I'm guessing someone here might be able to fill me in.

financially I can't say .. but as far as U-verse laying fibre to your door ( or at leat upgrading the line rather than buying out the contract to supply) I can't see you getting better performance than with AT&T

Well if they come kocking here, they can stand next to the Verizon Fios guy. I'm one of the few people I guess who is actually happy with her cable service, so if it ain't broke, I'm not gonna fix it.

From: Brenda Connolly I'm one of the few people I guess who is actually happy with her cable service, so if it ain't broke, I'm not gonna fix it. Make that two people, my cable co just bumped my speed again, I'm getting 26K Mbps down and 5K Mbps up.. I can watch a movie while playing SL and never miss a beat.. the only thing I don't like about Cox is they block a few ports in their feeble attempt to keep home users from running servers.

They actually layed a new cable to the house and hard wired it all on. So far the TV and internet seem to be great (the features for cable TV and U-verse are great) I have yet to log in world but I know we've got a mega high speed connection so.........let's hope~!!

A mega high speed connection is lost on SL. SL's network is clogged up. On average I only get about 1000kbps (1 mbps) despite my connection being able to download data at 5 mbps.
I was hoping Linden Labs' new network 'llnet' was going to be their answer to the problem, but it doesn't seem to have changed a thing.

I was going to do U verse till their triple play was going to cost me 200+ a month (and all the fine print! with extra for HD and what package I would have to get for HD) to have what I get from comcast (and a better higher speed internet 30000 / 9000) for 129 a month.
U verse is the same as cable its not FO its FO to the headend (maybe node) and coax to the house in the house its all just cat 5 ... most cable is FO to the headend or node as well. then coax to the taps and house. with the difference being coax inside and not cat 5.
I am a tech for comcast (and I did not want it! but its been great so far.) can say yep watch a movie run SL and another PC running COD4 and yet another running you tube and facebook. Plus HD on the TV and the phone going not even a stutter on the connection.
A hint for those that don't want the cost to go up after a year contract on a special price... Call before its up and tell them you want the same or your going to another company/dish/dtv etc.
They will give you the same deal over and over, sometimes even better! (at least with comcast)

If you do get U-verse, hard code your DNS servers
68.94.156.1 68.94.157.1
U-verse has been real nasty somehow without doing that. I forget the reason exactly. I'd thought my uverse connection was worse than the previous DSL line we'd had till I found out about this and set the DNS by hand. I've been a happy camper ever since.

Be careful of those U-Verse guys, they speek in riddles and half truths. In my area FIOS was NOT to the door, just tot he junction block for the street. They would not gurarntee any speeds. They make a huge deal about recording 4 shows at once, but they ALL have to be low def. If you record even one high def ANYWHERE in the house you can;t record anything else. You basically get the allotment of ONE high def channel into your house however you want to use it :/ THen the price, it's price to be EXACTLY the same as cable in your area, When I priced out the exact same features (Well as close as I could get) it was the same price, but lesser digital record features and slower internet that what I had with cable. I was hoping for something newer, faster, better and maybe cheaper. It was none of the above unfortuantely. Not completely bashing them, it depends on what the competition is, it may be way better than what's in your area now. But just ask a LOT of questions and listen to their answers carefully

Well, you guys are full of good tidbits~!!! Lets see......as for Comcast.....never had a problem with their internet connection/service....but the cable was a nightmare between constant pay perview movie errors and pixelated hiccuped images. We couldn't stand them. As for offering us the same deal......hahahahahahhahahahaa riiiiight. No, they did no such thing when we called them. They simply launched into all the explanations as to why our bill went up $70 and when my bf said he was looking at U-verse....... they didn't bat an eyelash. We knew the price increase was because our sign on package expired.....but they certainly weren't concerned about losing an account. But....as for all the movie recording and so on.....it's not likely we'll ever be recording movies. We have one giant TV in the livingroom that I rarely watch.....and we watch movies or science stuff when he's home. But we're hardly avid TV series people. (I loathe reality tv....I think it's making people lose brain cells lol) So....the internet....no problems for day 1. I was in-world last night.....absolutely fine.....no issues.
