Can someone actually BLOW up your buildings??

Is there an object in SL..or script..than can blow one of your buildings to bits? I havent been able to be inworld because of my pc..and my manager just sent me a picture that the club on my sim has been blown up..lol..I mean..how is that possible?

The picture shows it..its destroyed with pieces all over the place..and half of it went offworld..my god..I am away and the place goes to the dogs..sighs

Doubt it....did you give edit rights on your objects to anyone?

Looks like someone unlinked all objects and turned 'em physical.

My girlfriend does that to my builds when she wants to get me worked up.

Only you can move your prims, unless they're set to "anyone can move" (^_^)

...or are group deeded to a group where people have powers (^_^)

...or you have people on your friends list that let you move their objects. (^_^)y

Been a looong time since griefers could nuke a sim lol. I sure hope those old vulnerabilities are not back. Basically if it only happened to your stuff and everyone else's stuff in the sim is untouched then I would say you need to understand that you can't grant anything to anyone except your alt and the only other owner in your land group is your alt and you and your alt are the only people with build rights.

Well, Im pretty niave..and Im sure I gave build rights for one reason or another..and being crazy busy all the time, I never UNcheck them..so either someone has a REALLY good nuke or someone just had some fun with the new manager of the club..yeeehaw...real fun...lol

A few years back while living on the Manila sim, some "mafia" gang came in and shoot up and destroyed our homes. The sim requested a rollback and everything returned back to normal.

I didn't think anyone had this capabilty now.

I may have dreamed this, but I thought I saw a jira not so long ago to the effect that the trick usually used to blow things up (turn them physical and then unlink them) no longer works. I had a quick look but can't now find it, and am in too much of a hurry to go in-world to check for myself. Anyone know?

actually, after going in world last nite..the whole club WAS turned physical.. thats how it was destroyed..I have no clue how that would happen...but i deleted it all and rerezzed another club..hell thats a pretty good trick..i just wonder if theres a way to find out actually who did it

Recently, I saw something like this happen... I think.

A month or so ago, I was in-world. Two other avatars were nearby, one showing the other a rather large freebie vehicle. Without warning, a third avatar wandered over and proceeded to rez a copy of the vehicle at the same coordinates that were occupied by the original one. He then (I assume) proceeded to turn his copy physical.

What followed was most peculiar: Both the copy and the other avatar's original vehicle unlinked and exploded in a shower of debris. At first, I thought it was simply good timing - that the original vehicle was auto returned by the simulator just as the copy was de-linked and turned physical. But among the wreckage I found that some of the prims were owned (but not created) by the first avatar - other prims were owned (and created!) by the third avatar. The creator of the copy was not the creator of the first avatar's original vehicle.

I would not go and fire your manager just yet for incompetence. This is the 3rd or 4th time I have seen something along these lines reported here in the forum. While I have not heard of an exploit that could do this, that's not to say that there is not one out there. I really hate to say it but permissions are more porous now then I have ever seen. You might try sending a message to Day Oh and asking him if he has heard of anything.

EDIT TO ADD: You might also try posting a thread over in the Emerald forum. Chalice, Phox & LGG should be up on the latest exploits as anyone.

While I definitely think someone's having you on about the club blowing up, it IS possible or was possible a couple of years ago to do that. There used to be some freebie buildings floating around that were built at a certain size, linked and then stretched to a larger size, ie: larger than the bounds that linking allows. If left linked...it was only a matter of time before a sim hiccupped and these buildings were *blown* all over the sim in pieces. Nothing like hunting all over a sim for all the bits, some of which ended up underground as well.
