I own a full sim on mainland, tier is 195 US$.
Now if I buy another 4000 m2 mainland, the LL land calculater tells me my tier goes up to 292.50. I am confused. Normally 4000 m2 cost 40 US$, so I would expect my tier to go up to 235.-
Can anyone explain this 'logic'?

Once you have a full sim, your tier can only go up in 32768sqm2 increments.

Rent 4000sqm of tier from me for L$1000 per week. Problem solved and it's cheaper.

Hmm. . .

Way off topic, but. . .

Elanthius and Desmond are two posters that I pay serious attention to in the forums. They're both successful with land. They both make reasoned, intelligent comments on the issue at hand, and they typically have wildly dissenting opinions on any given topic.

The above two posts, back to back are classic.

Both of the posts are excellent suggestions.

There's more than one way to do almost everything.

Yes, that thought crossed my mind Desmond, but I figured from LL standpoint its one account (RL address, CC etc) Will they accept this as a separate business entity? If so, its easy, I sell the extra to my alt. Will this work?

Put your land in a group. Then you will be eligible for around 6,500sqm of extra land for FREE - no need to pay anything.

There, does that trump Desmond and Elanthius or what? :D

It certainly does Gabriele, although I never fully understood this deeding of land to a group and its advantages and disadvantages, it would most certainly solve the extra cost issue.

If the group consists of you and your alt you have absolutely nothing to worry about and the group should at the very least consist of you and your alt.

All my land is group deeded so that I get the bonus.

Some Advantages:

*) You get to own more land for the money
*) All your alts can manage the land as if they were owners too

Some Disadvantages:

*) It complicates selling land somewhat.
*) You must make a group.

I am sure there are others in both categories.

You soon get used to it being this way though and once familliar it works very well :)

First create an alt and make a group consisting of you and your alt. You can use the same payment info and email address for the alt - though I give each of my accounts their own email address.

Then deed your current land to the group -- inworld join the group called SL Land Answers and someone can actually walk you thru it step by step -- there is a bit about donating tier with the deeding that is important. The group automatically gets a 10% bonus, so when you deed your entire current sim of tier to the group, the group will then show another 6500m available. Use that available group tier to buy the additional land -- make sure you 'buy for group' when you buy the additional land (again, the Land Answers group can walk you thru it step by step as you do it).

From experience, if you want more land after that, but not up to another full sim, it really is cheaper to rent the tier from Elanthius. I did calcs every which way I could think of and that really is the cheapest.
