Stretching Boots to fit

I got a new pair of thigh high boots, but because of the length of my avi's legs, they just barely clear the knee. I've positioned them as well as I can in Edit without getting gaps, but can't I stretch them somehow? Is there a Torley video on this, or can someone give me the Idiot's Guide to Stretching real quick? When I check the Stretch box, I can't see anything to manipulate...

But what I don't know would fill a book....

Thanks clever people!

Have you tried when in edit, on the edit box checking "Edit linked parts" then clicking on the piece that you need to stretch up?

Yes, but that's when it begins getting dicey. The cuff, which I'd love to move up, has no arrows showing. It's just an outline on Position, Rotate or Stretch when I do "Edit linked parts".

Are the boots mod-perm?

If not, welcome to the sad, sad world of the barely-shod.

(I *hate* no-mod shoes. I *hate* them! I've gotten to the point now that if I see shoes in a store not labeled "MOD" I run off yelling death threats to the cobblers. I *hate* them, I say!)

Merde. They are indeed. No Mod, No transfer, No luck. I suppose that means I have to cut my legs off instead of stretching the boot?

If position, rotate and stretch are greyed out when you select the linked part, then its probably a nomod linkset, which would leave you SOL for options.. other than sawing off a few inches of leg to get into them that is.

Sadly many shoe manufacturers have it in their head that making stuff no mod is a good idea. I tend to only buy from those who sell mod. Sorry you fell victim to this. :(

If they're advertised as thigh high boots then they should go up to the thighs. If they don't then it's not your fault but the person who made them. Ask for your money back and chalk it up to just another crappy made item.

Thigh high boots are mad sexy.

You think this is bad, you should see most men's shoes. Men's shoes are the single worse made items in sl. There's no item that's made worse then men's shoes, none.

I have brought then right afterwards thrown out more men's shoes -sneakers included- then all the other pieces of clothing, jewelry and furniture put together. And in many cases it didn't matter they were made mod as when making them smaller or bigger the entire shoe just didn't look right.

I stopped buying or in this case, I've stopped giving my money away to shoes makers. I only buy in two shops and these two shops are not the popular shops you see in sl. They are more of the lesser known shops.

You don't understand. These are the fiercest boots in SL. I'll wear them short, but they will be going nowhere.... :)

I sell shoes no mod, but if the footwear includes a leg piece I set that to modify

reason I set them no mod is because they are transferable, not much use having them xfer with mod
besides women's shoes are generally made for size 0 feet so no need to mod the shoe part

I sell the kid shoes no mod as well, because they are made to make the kid feet appear smaller therefor specific placement of the invisible prims need not be tampered with...

sometimes no mod makes sense
(I purchase no mod footwear, unless it is a boot and the upper is no mod as well, then I pass on by, need to be able to modify that part cuz legs are never a general size over the board.)
