Pull up the map and you will see in the bottom right side where to input the sim and the coordinates.

Do just what Macphisto said, make sure you look at the Map before you teleport. We've all had the experience of transposing a number and not checking the Map before tping. The list of stories of where some of us landed would leave you rolling on the floor.

If I type in coordnates in the map, there is no way to teleport to them. Hitting enter does nothing, and no buttons accept the coordnates.

No it doesn't, you have to enter the SIM name first, enter, then enter co-ords and TP. So then back to the original question he asked: If the SIM name isn't known, but the coordnates are.. how do you teleport there? To which I WOULD have thought: You can't, and that wouldn't make sense. Apparently people say you can though, so I wanna know how? |

This has long been a question for me too. I enter the numbers but the TP button is grayed out. FaTeke Chiming in to say that I have the same question. I wrote down coordinates for several places (but not the name) yesterday while OW, only to find that I could not teleport to them with just the coordinates. WHat's the story? |

Every single sim has the same coordinates. If you don't know the name or have the landmark you are just out of luck. Come on, now, people.

Every sim uses the same coordinate set. Without the sim name it is impossible to determine where to tp.

Somehow things are pretty confused in this thread at this point. First, you have to know the sim name and the coordinates in the sim. (Strictly speaking, if you had *global* coordinates, you could use those without a sim name, but you don't have global coordinates, trust me.)
In the Map, you type in the sim name and then hit Enter (or press Search) so that the little list of region names populates, and the Teleport button becomes active. If you typed in the whole correct sim name, it will be selected for you in that list. If not, you'll have to find the sim you mean in that list and click to select it. Then, and only then, you type in the coordinates, and press Teleport. |

Teleport Button Grayed Out
09-15-2008 16:03
Anybody mind if I revive an old thread? I just followed these instructions and it's not working. I can teleport only to those places that are listed as landmarks in my World Map. (I am using SL 1.20.15 (92456) in Ubuntu.)
For example, I have this landmark: "Virtual Ability, Virtual Ability (47,118,23)." That is home for me. I can get there with Ctrl-Shift-H. If I search for Virtual Ability in my map, the Search Results box populates with "Virtual Ability," and the Location boxes populate with the values 128, 128, 23 (which, to this beginner, is confusing, but OK). The Teleport button is active, and if I were somewhere else (even just at another location in the same sim), I could click Teleport and I would go back to the Home spot. But that is the only location that works that way. For example, I have another landmark: "Ability Commons, Commonwealth 2 (127,66,22)." If I search, in my map, for Ability Commons, the Search Results box says, "None found," and the Teleport button is greyed out. But if I select Ability Commons as a landmark, the Teleport button is active, and I can teleport there. In other words, the Teleport button is now working only for those locations that already appear in my Landmarks list. Otherwise, the only way I know to teleport is (as I have just discovered) to find a location on the map and double-click it. This would be fine, if the crosshairs (cursor) on the map had a readout that showed the cursor's location as I moused around -- then I could slowly home in on the destination. Without that, though, I really have no idea how to get to the sims I am trying to reach. |

The Teleport button is active, and if I were somewhere else (even just at another location in the same sim), I could click Teleport and I would go back to the Home spot. Note that in this case, "Virtual Ability" is both the parcel name and the sim name. This is because the sim name is Commonwealth 2. Ability Commons is the Parcel name. Places Search can find Parcel names, but Map Search cannot. However, if you manually enter Commonwealth 2, 127, 66, 22 into the Sim name and coordinate fields, you should find the cursor moving to the same place. As far as I'm aware, whole-grid coordinates (pure coordinates without a sim name) aren't easily findable, and they can only be used in a few ways by scripts. |

Thank you for that fast and illuminating answer.
It seems I had the wrong concept of how to search for sims. So tell me: how would you find a list of all SL sims that address the topic of disabilities, or at least that have the word "disability" or "disabilities" in their names? |

Some sims that might interest you are the ones that make up Motorability - the area owned by United Spinal Association. "United Spinal," "Motorability," and about 4 others make up Motorability.
Also (but not sims): Wheelies (search in places) is a nightclub and organisation. Heron Sanctuary is uh... a people sanctuary. There are tons. Find one and talk to the people there and they'll give you more names. _____________________

Midnight City is a sim, but supposing one does not have the sim name it's best to use Search to find the parcel name, then, if you find it, tp off the Search page. If you put "midnight city" in Search (all) you get a bazillion answers - where were you searching? You might need "mature" ticked (haven't thought about that in ages but presume it's still there). _____________________

As far as I'm aware, whole-grid coordinates (pure coordinates without a sim name) aren't easily findable, and they can only be used in a few ways by scripts. It depends on what you call easily findable, in a script it is just a matter of doing a database call for the grid coords of the sim corner and adding the local coords but outside scriipts they are indeed pointless. a litle known fact is that you can use local coords larger then 256,256 and smaller then 0,0 to move to sims bordering on your sim, haven't tried it on map tho so might only work in scripts. |

So tell me: how would you find a list of all SL sims that address the topic of disabilities, or at least that have the word "disability" or "disabilities" in their names? You wouldn't really. That would be like searching for a particular website by typing the IP address of the server, or searching for someone's home by looking up the name of the city. The actual content is at the land parcel level. The sim is merely the server. In some cases, the parcel is the whole sim, but often it isn't. So you should use Search > Places for searching parcel names and descriptions. |

Map TP is all messed up
09-16-2008 07:01
Something is borked.
Last night, I wanted to tp to a different location in my own sim, a spot that I don't have a LM for. I opened the Map, and entered the coordinates. The Teleport button remained grayed out. I tried entering specific coordinates in other sims. Same thing. Now, I distinctly remember that this USED to work. When did it stop? I finally managed to get where I wanted to go by a laborious workaround...I used Copy SLURL to Clipboard from the map, pasted it into local Chat, said the magic word, and then clicked on the live SLURL that appeared in the Chat History window. _____________________
