On Saturday I was working on my new build, when all of a sudden I found myself transported and "stuck" on a neighboring parcel's build with my hair and shoes floating a short distance away from me. Both builds are in the sky by the way. Since I could not move I logged off. When I logged back on everything appeared fine. I was back on the ground where I had begun on my previous log on. However, as soon as I flew back up to my sky build, and the neighboring parcel's build came into my draw distance, I was again immediately transported to the same place and "stuck" again. I repeated this a few times, trying to fly in from different angles, etc. in an attempt to determine the problem. I found that any way I approached the area the same thing happened. Everywhere else in-world I am fine though. Now here is the interesting part. I had a friend of mine log in and fly to the same area. Guess who was standing in the "stuck" spot bald and shoeless....me!! I was offline and my character read as offline to my friend but still I was appearing there. He filed a bug report for me but i have not yet received a response, and I am still there. Any suggestions or similar occurrences? It is frustrating because I cannot work on my new build until this is resolved....plus it is slightly eerie seeing the way I look stading there knowing that I am offlline. Fortunately, the neighbors are sympathetic to the situation and are allowing my lifeless body to stand in the corner untouched.

No, this has not happened to me. This is one of the weirdest sounding things I've seen people report before. My first suggestion was going to be that someone's security orb was sending you to 'the dark place', but after what you described with your friend, that sounds highly unlikely. Unless it is some kind of crazy script programmed to only put you somewhere when any avatar approaches...also sounds unlikely.
If you will give me the exact coordinates of this place I will use my avatar as a guinea pig. I enjoy playing in Bermuda Triangle type places in SL and figuring things out. I've been known to attempt to drive vehicles across multiple Linden roads across multiple sims...and that didn't go over so well. I'll be back home later; I cannot access the grid at this time.

Sounds like ghosting is back, or you discovered a genuine black hole phenomenon in SL Seriously, "ghosting" is when the impression of your avatar remains in a sim even after you log out. Usually it disappears when you relog, but as far back as 2005 that wasn't always happening (my ex used to go to combat sims and shoot people into having to relog, which left their ghost avatar behind, which he would then use to make very interesting photo montages ) You can't really do anything about your ghost being left behind until there is a sim restart, I believe.

Thanks but I have already had someone extensively fly the area....nothing happens to him. That's why I don't think it is anything malicious....unless it is specifically directed at me somehow. Anyway, like I said, I can operate anywhere else in-world fine. It is very strange to me also!!

Would that also explain being pulled to the location when it enters my draw distance? Both locations are in the same sim, but I can operate elsewhere in the sim as long as that location is not in my draw distance. EDIT: Actually the neighbor may not be in the same sim...I would have to check.

What's happening to you is truly weird. Sorry I don't have real solution, but have you tried moving your build up or down 100m, away from your neighbours build, and perhaps reducing your draw distance - just until this is resolved.
On the being in world and yet offline problem, a lot of people have had this problem, me included. Get a friend, or your neighbour to send you an IM. This usually 'knocks' you offline. No idea why.
Good luck.

You can also have a Linden come check for malicious scripts.

Sometimes my heads spins around Linda Blair style for no reason. But never had what you explain happen to me and I build in the sky a lot and have neighbors who do to..Strange.

Good luck. In fact, when I just went to recheck things, it seems that the problem has been corrected. Someone in fact did send me an IM....not sure if that did it though as my friend did the same thing with no effect. One thing though, I am now "banned" from the parcel. Perhaps the neighbor corrected the problem for me by banning me. Multipple people use thier area so maybe someone else who did not know the situation thought I was being a nuisance and banned me...whatever...it worked!!!

As a followup for the OP... yes, that exact thing has happened to me. It occurred near a sim border, and I ultimately had to get both sims restarted to solve the problem. The help ticket was attended to promptly (within a few hours). This seems to be something that LL knows how to handle, which I suspect means it happens fairly regularly.

Yes, the same thing happened to me on Saturday. Having a second instantiation of my hair floating over my head was pretty funny. I did not notice it yesterday... but i did not tp as much.

Since two posters mentioned about being near a sim boarder I thought I would verify the positions of the two parcels. My parcel is off my sim boarder by the width of a 1024. The neighbor's parcel is on the boarder of their sim (2 sims involved). So actually there is land inbetween us but the boarder is still very close to me. Thanks to all who responded!!

I'm curious. We're you showing up on the map or the mini map? If you could find a way to duplicate this you could make a fortune in self replicating bots.

I had this happen to me before, but it was only after investigating a large invisible globe with some odd-named scripts in it that I found incidently while looking for something else. I could not get away from it, logged off. Logged back in and if I flew to close it would grabe me again. It was gone the next day though. *shrug*
