Ok so I tried to upload some good GIR audios (Invader zim char) but it says it's not compatible or something saying that it has to be 44.1 K (???) what does this mean? Is the file too long/big most of them are about 3-10 secs long.

it means your sampling rate must be 44.1k. What did you use to sample the sound?

Wish me luck on this one Enari,
when you put your sound file in windows recorder for instance.. do a save as... in that window look at the very bottom where is says FORMAT. Change it so that it PCM 44.100. now save it. Bring that file into SL and it should work great. Remember it has to be under 10 seconds, which it sounds like you do. You can play with the bit rate, stereo, mono, depending on what you are going to do with it.
Hope this helps, if you still need help, IM me when you get into world and I'll talk you through it as best I can.

Enari- what I did was run audio clips through an audio editing program to resample at the right rate. Depending on your OS you can grab a program like Audacity for free, import your sound clips, and then export them as 44.1k wav files. I used a cakewalk variant but I know Audacity is free and a pretty good program.

Ok is there a easier way to do this this is stuff that's complicated in my eyes can you actually tell me step by step instead of abreiviating a lot of stuff so i'm reading this stuff and it says OS in the other guys message and PCM in yours??? what the heck is that please be specific.

Enari - the file you have is in the incorrect format. You will need to convert it into the correct format, a process described well already in this thread (although in general terms). Without knowing your OS or much about the file you want to upload, it's difficult to give you more specific directions.
OS = Operating System. PCM = file format, sometimes also called WAV (has a .wav extension). PCM stands for Pulse Code Modulation and is actually a part of WAV and AIFF files, but it most often associated with WAV. 44.1K = Sample rate. Basically the number of samples contained per second in a sound file. CD standard is 44.1k. The higher the number, the better. Sometimes changing the sample rate can result in an audible change in speed of the original file (it will sound like a scene from the Chipmunks, or be very slowed down). A good converter can overcome this however.
See, not confusing at all? (that's a joke, BTW)

Enari, do you have a PC?
If you do, open the sound in Windows Sound Recorder.

Once in there, "save as" and look at the bottom of that window.
If it doesn't say "44.1" hit "change"
Change it to 44.1, then save as any name you want.

It should work then, unless the length is too long - I forget the max length.

Enari - I was just hoping for a little more information. Yes, it is confusing, but only because I'm trying to be precise and I don't even know what kind of computer you have, so I can't give you advice on what program you can use to convert your file.

Perhaps it's no PCM compression. I used a program called "All Sound Recorder XP" to record the file while I played it, and to save the newly recorded file in the right format (PCM-compressed WAV file with a sample rate of 44,100 Hz). But perhaps it's less trouble to search for a similar file. I highly recommend . Tons of sounds, license free, no need to worry about the copyright.

I see when you "Save As" that there are 2 drop-down menues.
One says "Format" and PCM is a choice.
The other is the "44.1" thing.
