The Greenlife viewer download speed and the speed of the website's loading is at present painfully slow.

Is this a common problem for that site?

The problem was highlighted in the update before this one where their server was taking taking several hundred hits per second. Popularity has it's price and the Greenlife viewer is very popular now.

They get hammered at release time.

They do keep the downloads mirrored at Google Code. A good plan might be to grab MD5s from modularsystems.sl and get the big files through Google.

So the update on the viewer screen is for their viewer and not the RC?

It is neither. The blurb and link on the Greenlife Viewer start screen is for an update of Greenlife itself.
