So, I've always noticed the 'ground sit' option in AOs, and been able to select one, but never known how to USE it. I wanna sit on the ground, but I can't figure out how! I found out I can right click > sit here on the ground, but I only seem to run at the spot and tweak out for a second... bleh

i've resorted to opening the animation that is contained in my AO and hitting the play button.

"Ground sit" should really be called "Land sit"... it's an animation that only plays when you go to sit on the (mesh) land (or that's how my AO works anyway :o).

If you want to look like you're sitting on a prim floor, you'll have to play an animation (you can still be pushed then since you're not actually sitting) although finding a perfect one that doesn't make you float 1m above the floor can take a while :(.

I can't get me to sit on the terrain at all. She does the whole 'I'm trying to sit on something' dance, and ends up flying half the time, but never sits, is there some secret technique?

Stupid question...sometimes I want to sit somewhere. Can't I just attach a pillow to my butt and have an animation in it to sit? I'm not very good at this stuff.

Well, you can buy a pillow (Search for 'Pillow Talk'), and if the sim is build enabled, you just rez it on the ground, right-click it, and choose sit.

@Keira, that _is_ weird.
Something (AO) is blocking your basic sit animation if it isn't working when you're trying to sit on the ground directly. Try taking off all your AOs, then right-click on the ground (terrain) and choose sit. What does it do then?

I still tweak out -_-;

Maybe I'm just not made for sittin' on the ground... bleurgh

If you bought a sitting animation, it's suppose to replace the basic SL sit, but still work on the ground. Maybe you can take the animation out of your AO, and try out another one instead, just to see the difference (?)

A friend of mine ran into the very same thing this afternoon. Every time she tried to sit on the ground, all her AV would do is run around in circles for a few seconds but never sat.

She kept trying different spots on the ground and finally found a spot that worked.

I have also noticed that, since the Havoc 4 rollout, it is much more difficult to fly over to a hilly area and actually land on the slope. Usually, I just bounce off and keep flying. But, if I keep trying, eventually I will land, properly, on the slope.

I've tried a total of 5 sit animations in 3 AOs, and the basic ground sit without any AO, and always the tweaking out >.>

What you need to do is a thing called a 'forced groundsit'.....

If your ao is one where you can load several notecards, you may find one called 'groundsit', or it's easy to make your own. The groundsit notecard is one where the stand poses have been replaced with groundsit ones, so when you stand, you really sit nicely, exactly where you want, and you can cycle through them just like you would your stands. And also it means you can sit on a prim floor, not just linden land.

Just load the notecard and you're sitting pretty, not flying in circles or hopping into anyones lap (unless you want that of course).

What you're explaining sounds like something that has happened to me a few times... and I finally figured out why it happened....

If you click on the ground to sit..... make sure there is no possibility that there is any invisible prims near by that might be covering the ground you're trying to sit on. Examples would be the roots of a big tree......prims that create fog or haze.....

That is the only reason I can think that a ground sit would not work....with or without an AO. The times when that has happened to me......it has been because I tried sitting too close (or maybe on top of) an area where there were actually invisible prims blocking my way. Oh, grass might do this too.... again... invisible alpha layers getting in the way of the actual mesh ground. *shrug* one thought anyay.

Perfect solution for me...

Perfect solution - I have the cutest chair that doesn't rez, but is worn, is color change, attaches very nicely to my butt, and which rocks and lets me flip my sandaled foot insouciantly... works anywhere. Comes from - checking... 13th Floor Creations. I'll drop an IM on the OP.

Lost this thread yesterday >.<

Anywho, thankies for all the awesome answers!

I'm thinking there must have been prims or something... I dunno, tried it in a few sims and spazzed out, went to hang out with a friend and tried, and bam it worked..now it seems to be working everywhere it didn't, too.

I think SL is just taunting me >.>

I just went and bought that chair - so perfect - I love it. I know of a few places where that will come in handy.

Hey, I was wondering if this was just me. Thank goodness someone else noticed it too. I also noticed that when hovering in the air, I eventually start sinking a few cm at a time, till I end up hovering just over the ground.

I had this 'start sinking while hovering' issue a while back. Then someone suggested that I use the Flight Assist in my MystTool rather than my Flight Feather - have not had the problem since.

I use my mystitool, and don't sink unless I stay hovering in one spot for about 2+ minutes. After that I start to sink, and moving and such doesn't correct it. Still better than most I find tho ^_^
