Is there a way to access SL, maybe with limited priviledges or something, without making an account?

I have a few people in RL, web designers and such, who would like to see what I do in SL because they are curious, but if possible, I don't want them to have to make an account.. maybe like.. a guest client?

Is this possible?

If all esle fails I'll make a new account as a guest and give that info out.

you would have to make a new av and give everyone the password.

soon people are going to flood the thread pointing out that this is a violation of the sacred tos though....

this part here is where it is against the TOS, you would be having to give out a password to ppl to use this account

maybe you can make a guest av but not tell your friends the actual password just give them some clues.

They can't. They are busy right now trying to stop the mentally challenged from interacting with horses and calling the lawyers over at Nikon.

From LL's point of view, the more accounts created the merrier, right?

As long as each alt account is created by a new user that's okay.

Just have them create free accounts themselves. Problem solved. Just hope none of them work for Nikon;)

LOL no one has to report it, lindens do watch these boards

I only mention that part is against the tos cuz I would hate to see someone work hard at something then end up screwed due to a technicality

sure just show them how to make an account, that way if they like it they have their own account to stick around with

:)

How about something even eaier........and not against the TOS? Invite them over to your RL location and let them look over your shoulder. :)

Cause I live about 30 minutes from most towns lol... not exactly the best thing to have to have people drive and waste that much gas...

Why not just let them make a real account (it's free after all), and give them your SL name with simple instructions on how to IM you? That way, they can enjoy SL (I bet some will get hooked on the addiction) and you can be sort of a mentor/guide.

Show them what you do, as well as assist them if they have trouble or questions.

It's bad enough at the moment with anyone (including banned people) being able to create an alt with no connection to the original account (why can they not allow banning in parcels based on IP and/or name!)...

Guest Accounts could not really work because to enter you need a name... it's not difficult to register as it is.

Maybe though a "ringfenced" sim set aside for guest accounts with no perms just to show what it's like? Guests could be named as "guest123 Tester" etc?

There is a slim chance the name/birth date might work. IP's, no way. No all broadband users have static IP addresses. Mine for example changes any time I reset my DSL modem (I thought it was weird too, but I know it does as I have to reroute proxy stuff every time I do). Let's not forget any poor soul that might be on *cringe at the thought* dial-up. Dial-up IP's are never the same.

If there were a way for LL to make a browser based client for 'guests' and guests only. I think that would be the way to go. I remember reading about one.. but if LL used the same idea and the system would automatically name them in a fashion like you said "guest123 Tester".
