hi...there have been some threads on 'home security' before, but I was trying to narrow the search down to finding one that only logs avis that actually enter the home rather than acknowledge folks that are just in the vicinity. I have rented a small place and while I accept that privacy is practically impossible, is it possible to get a device that is more generalised? I was thinking like a welcome mat that picks up folks that actually cross the threshold and/or enter the room, from camming in and sitting down? I don't want to boot anyone or hassle folks, just a daily list of 'visitors' would be sufficient.

I am also having problems laying a rug flat, but I'll wrestle with that another day, potential friday thread?.....................

You could get yourself a visitor counter set to only cover the radius of your house. It wont do anything to visitors, just give you a list of who enters. If you don't want people coming in and making themselves at home when you aren't there, you can get a security orb and set to just cover the inside. Orbs warn people and push them off your land or send them home, depending on your orb and settings.

As for your rug, is the floor of your house flat? If you want help with positioning it, give me a shout in world.

Shamless plug - if you want a cute looking visitor list maker, I have a bunch of unique one-prim animated guard dogs, available in my store on Tin Teddy or from XStreet. They can easily be set to either bark or growl at visitors, or to be totally silent. They take note of visitors and you can then check on who visited you - all menu driven. They are very reliable and sell well, so I guess must be reasonably ok, hehe.

Tell you what, I am in a really good mood, so if you want to take a look, and see one that you would like, let me know and I will send it to you free of charge.

I have one script that logs people within a certain range of itself, and another that logs people who interact with the prim it is inside. Both were freebies, so I could send them your way as well.

A volume detect script can record the names of individuals who walk through a doorway. And many security systems can be set to cover a specific rectangular volume of space, so a visitor counter should also be able to do that.

Have you considered making lolcat guards, Elgyfu? When strangers appear they would strike a ridiculous pose with their head up their backside or something and utter semi-comprehensible threats like "Iz u frend or iz u fo?" :p

Pep (They would scare me off! )
