Horray, Jira requests work! I noticed a feature request I made some time ago has been implemented, and Ban Line visibility is now just a "View > Banlines" menu item away.

I had parcels in mind when I made this request, i.e. you can chill out at your favorite personal zone without seeing red police tape outside of it.

I'd love to know how other people enjoy this feature. Coco Linden managed the implementation and I guess it wasn't as easy as I thought it would be, so she gets the thanks.

So, Thanks, Coco.

I'd enjoy it a lot more if it was fully implemented:

Ban line visibility distance: OFF [===========>--] 256m
[x] See my own ban lines.

For people who use vehicles this is a slap in the face.

some people have requested that, and you should request or vote for more flexibility in the feature, but as stated, this initial iteration was for parcels in mind. Iterative Development... start by making the feature work in general, then tune it over time.

Unfortunately, Linden Labs usually proceeds by iterative procrastination. Make the feature sort of work, so long as you don't trip over the loose ends often enough that they cause problems to anyone at Linden Labs, and forget about it until something shinier makes it worthwhile deleting the loose ends... and re-opening the original problem.

In any case, you asked for comments, that's mine.

Every time they do something useful, they break something else. This time they got rid of the MORE button in the Edit Window, so we're stuck with the long Edit window and can't collapse it. As a builder, I think the ability to collapse the Edit window is extremely helpful to hide the tabs while keeping the window still open.

I suppose it was too much to ask for them to do away with ban lines altogether on the mainland.

They've apparently been wanting to do that for a while. They apparently have to treat the edit window specially, as two linked windows, and that makes the UI code more complex.

Wow, I just noticed the toggle banlines feature myself, it was a very welcome surprise.

oh geesh, that giant edit box can't be somewhat tamed anymore? suckville.

I suppose I can leave it open to reduce the number of visible gray textures and deformed sculpties.

Regarding Court's custom title "Some College", that reminds me, I was looking at some obscure social network profile of mine, something pretty obscure, and I noticed that I had somehow selected from a dropdown box "Some Jr. High" as my educational level.

"Some Jr. High"? what kind of an educational level category is that?
