Hey guys
As the title suggest it,I am thinking about offering teaching services in french and chess.
Could any of you give me some advice on how to proceed?
Should I first own a land/building/island?
Thanks

I'd learn to play chess and speak French, if you don't already. ![]() LOL. I'm hoping that's a given. I don't think it's necessary to own land. I'm sure there are plenty of places to provide space or rent space. I'm presuming you are planning on charging for your services and if that's the case I'd say it's definitely better not to jump in and purchase land. To make it successful you'll just need to advertise and promote ALOT. _____________________

I'd say you don't even have to own any land. You can teach French any place. I suppose if it's spoken French you will need to find voice enabled land. Maybe you can visit people's homes in SL and teach them there.

There's a thread over in the Volunteers forum about free classroom space.
Also, Help People! is a multilingual helper organization. They might be interested in hosting your classes. _____________________

why would you need more than 117 prims to make a chess set? I don't know??? Maybe chaos built it. Seriously, 32 pieces which half are probably 2 prims each, probably a second set for rezzing into new positions, the table and board it comes with, each square may need to be a prim for scripting thats another 64, the chairs that come with it too! |

Fee structure....
03-15-2008 18:59
I assume you have a fee in mind. Is it scaled to SL pricing? If not, it will be interesting to watch your progress. When avatars are used to paying L$100 for a set of shirts or a dress, they might have sticker shock were you to charge US$20 for a French lesson. However, if your fee were to be scaled to SL pricing, would it be worth your while? Some considerations as you formulate your business plan.
Put me on your mailing list when you launch because I'd be interested in refresher course en Francais. |

The fee structure is SL/RL based.
That means that I have checked the exchange rate for each fee. It also takes into account the L$300,one receives. Because I was gone this past weekend for easter,I am not yet ready to launch. I hope I will be in a few weeks(hopefully this coming week) _____________________

Hey guys As the title suggest it,I am thinking about offering teaching services in french and chess. Could any of you give me some advice on how to proceed? Should I first own a land/building/island? Thanks How I learned to teach in two quick steps: (1) Took the "How to Be a SL Teacher" course from TUi. Spendy but worth it. Especially if you've never taught before. Upon successful completion, they offer you a job. You don't have to take it. (2) Join the SL Teaching Without Borders group. There is a join kiosk in the Crackerbox Palace classroom (http://slurl.com/secondlife/Plush%20Elektra/4/223/600). This puts you on a list of teachers who can make use of a list of schools and their classrooms. No land needed. IM me in world if you need any help. Disclaimer: I'm not endorsing anyone over anyone else ... this is just what I did. And it worked for me. |
