I have several items already set to the land group, and would like to set the remaining 1000+ to the same group....is there a way I can do this without haveing to select them one at a time....I am the owner of all the items and can select them all, just need to transfer to the land group....

You may be able to right-click>Edit one object, then hold down shift and drag your cursor across the others to select them as well. It works for moving or taking things into inventory as a coalesced object, but I've never tried changing the group that way. Also, if you select someone else's object in the process, I'm fairly certain it won't work. There's a setting in one of the menus called something like 'Show only my objects' which should help you avoid that particular issue though. Also, make sure none of your objects are locked.

Congratulations and shame on you! You are a bit of a slut.

Yes, for items you actually own, if you want to change what group items are SET to, you can multi-select a huge bunch of objects at once and change the group on all of then at once from any group that you are part of now to any other group that you are part of. You can't change items that you don't have mod right on, or which you don't own, or which are already deeded to a group (and therefore you don't own them, even if you own the group).
If anything in the multi-selected group is locked, you need to un-lock it. If anything in that multi-selected group is no-mod, you need to de-select the no-mod items to remove them from the selection first.
If you have a bunch of items that are already DEEDED to group A, and want to deed them to group B, you can't do it directly. You first have to have officer rights in group A that allow you to set items for sale, and in group B you need to be able to deed items to the group. Then you need to set them individually for sale to yourself, and buy them. Then you can multi-select them, set them all to group, and deed them all to group.

Is there any advantage to deeding non-media objects to group?

From: Cunundrum Alcott Is there any advantage to deeding non-media objects to group? If someone pays money to an object that is deeded to the group, that money get split between all group members that have the "Pay Liabilities" role checked. Other than that... the only real advantage is tha the items then "belong" to the group, and not to one individual. So if Suzy Hotentot gets in a tiff with her boyfriend and leaves the group, she can't take the swimming pool and deck that she made for the group with her... For purposes of autoreturn and the like, being set to he group is sufficient.
