Parcel encroachment by light?

Is light spilling onto your land considered encroachment? A neighbour has several light-emitting objects right on the border of my parcel, which reach a good 8-10m across my borders. To make matters worse, they are created by temp-rezzers, so they blink on and off every minute or so.

I don't want to create bad feeling over this, so I've sent a polite note. If it isn't answered (or is answered negatively), is there any chance LL will deal with it?

Basically, the chances are slim to none........and Slim just left town.

Or

As my old boss used to say;

You have two hopes; Bob Hope and no hope.....and Bob Hope is busy.

Unfortunately you will have to rely solely on your neighbour's good nature.

Vote for http://jira.secondlife.com/browse/VWR-1601 to make light sources controllable. (Not that the WindLight team has nothing else to worry about at the moment, but they seem capable of taking this on, once the worst bugs are worked out.)

I hd some trouble like that with a lighthouse light once, but that was actually a huge prim that DID encroach.
The neighbour was less than understanding and actually kicked us from his parcel after we inquired politely about the light thing, so don't count on understanding neighbours...

File a ticket and complain about lag on your sim, and casually mention that it seems to coincide with the time your neighbour put up temp-rezzers.

Diplomacy is your best chance for getting them moved, otherwise all you can do is turn off hardware lighting in your preferences or move your house up into the sky. Another work around might be for you to put in some lights of your own on your side of the property, as SL only allows you to see a limited number of these lighting sources at one time, yours that are closer to you and on all of the time should take priority. You might be able to put in some really dim ones like candles that will keep the others from showing up.

Thanks for that bit of lateral thinking. I've added a load of dim accent lights to things around the house, and it helps a lot. Add that one to the top tips.

This has happened to me once...for a short time I rented a little plot of land, and the club near-by was close enough to spill it's purple and red light all over my wonderful feng shui design...

I asked them kindly to increase the falloff or decrease the radius....no go. These are the same people that booted me and my store without warning...after I just paid rent.

Anyway. For a persnickety designer like myself, I rely heavily on color in my design motifs....and it annoys me that light can spill through like this.

Bah.

That is one of the most useful things I have heard in months.... :)

black lights.. You only need 6 to cancel out any further away lights. The SL client (currently) only renders the 6 closest lighting sources. "Black" lights have no visual effect, but still count as light sources.

There is an annoying religious propaganda sign near my home which flashes on and off and the light encroaches in my house. The owner of the sign says in his profile that if people don't like the signs there's no point in IM-ing him as he will take no notice. These signs are to be found in lots of sims.

So I have made my own sign on the edge of my property, next to the offending sign, showing me 'mooning' in front of the sign with a big red 'censored' label over the bible quote but not over my bum!
