how does club DJ'ing work?
Is the music on my pc, server side, or a 3rd source?
Do people build and script DJ tables or does one just feed a winamp stream up the pipe?

but help/hints would be cool for "real world" vs SL kb's.

Music is on your side, you stream through a 3rd party program such as SAM broadcaster or WinAmp, and connect to a stream owned by another 3rd party that the host chooses to pay for.

The host/owner of the parcel sets the stream's media through the land tools from owning the land.

I think I understand basicly how it all works from the SL side, now to talk to some in game DJ's to find out what tools they use. what winamp plugins work best, what software to use to beatmix with only 1 soundcard and such.

I use the program SAM broadcaster to dj -
expensive but good ;) You can rent streams actually in sl from a vendor - Which is considerably cheaper than buying one of your own.

I buy my stream from www.tidyhosts.com and have very good service at a very low monthly cost. Check them out if you are in the market to buy your own stream.

I offer DJ classes and tech support on Winamp, NiceCast, Sams, etc. Spinstream Media Services supplies test streams -- right now they have a buy one week or one month and get a week or month free deal on their stream rentals. I make sure you are all ready to go - from step-by-step installation to listening to your voice. Please contact Cher Harrington in game for DJ tech support or JJ Collingwood of Spinstream for a stream! Spinstream also sells 1 day and 3 day rentals with immediate activation!
