Just done a search for something and I see in the main blurb:
"New to Second Life? Try it Now! "
Which vanishes from view when you click on a place, it's a link from the website search but why is it appearing under all these other places? It sort of takes away some of the blurb on the inworld search.

Ok, go to search all, search for anything you like, on the left you get a list of places with parcel names and the start of the description of the place, you don't see it all as it's a preview of what the parcel contains.
The first few words of the descriptions are:
"New to Second Life, try it now".

Er... what have you been smoking, Ciaran?
I don't see anything like that at all - just tried it again with PG only checked and with all levels checked.

I *don't anything* like that at all - just tried it again with PG only *checkled* and with all levels checked. Are you smoking something?

lol. I invented a word - checkled. What can we use it for? A minor chuckle?
Fixed them both, and I'm smoking nothing - not even tobacco.

I see that before the search results are fully rendered, too. I figure it's some quirkiness in the way the viewer render the HTML code on the page. ETA:

From: Milla Janick I see that before the search results are fully rendered, too. I figure it's some quirkiness in the way the viewer render the HTML code on the page. Before Christmas, I was chatting about the All search with Rene, and I saw a pre-formatted page (black text on a white background) very briefly before the html formatting was complete. I saw it a few times - only for an instant each time. Judging by the words I saw, I thought it was the actual page before formatting, and I don't recall anything like the phrase that Ciaran is talking about. Ciaran says it's at the start of every place decription, so presumably the results page is fully formatted.

I see that sometimes before the description as well. I'm not sure but I think that might occur when you're doing searches on the website but you aren't logged into your account.

Yes, I've noticed those strange descriptions too, Ciaran, and have also been wondering what they are all about. I've thought it may somehow be maturity-level related. I have all 3 settings selected so, maybe, it takes the 'least' offensive manner of search but doesn't hold back the place that would (should) never show if I only had PG selected, plugging in just a generic blurb.
Just a guess. I'll have to see what happens when unchecking two of the 3 settings in various searches.

Now I see them. Some of them just have the "... try it now!" part. It looks like a cock-up on LL's part.

ETA: That's what I sometimes see but it's after clicking on a listing in the results. That's the right html page for my store but the SL search's browser hasn't formatted it. It only last for a moment.

ETA: That's the page that the website search produces before it's formatted. The top part is displayed at the top of my page. It's also what I described earlier as having seen a few times momentarily. I only got a glimpse and I recognised the largest text. I didn't get time to examine the stuff at the top. Or it could be an intermediary page with an auto-redirect to the display version. That stuff at the top is new since I last did a website search, which was a long time ago. My guess is that is very new because Ciaran's only just noticed that phrase where it shouldn't be. It looks like they've changed to using the same results and parcel pages as the website uses, but they don't display the top part in the SL searches. And they've cocked up the changes.

It's a cock up, earlier on the website search I saw the actual link it's supposed to use, it's above the search results and is obviously intended for people who find http://search.secondlife.com and are curious to find more but why it's appearing in the actual parcel descriptions is a mystery.

Thanks for that, Josh. I hadn't seen it. This part looks interesting:- From: someone Relevance improvements. We've made some changes that will lower the rank of keyword-stuffed or gamed listings. This means that high-quality destinations and listings will rise to the top of Search results, creating a more satisfying search experience for Residents by connecting them with the best of Second Life. Keyword-stuffing became utterly ridiculous but you either joined in or died. With a bit of luck we'll be able to go back to listing actual items for sale.

It's an artifact of the old embedded browser, it's a little pokey about loading CSS. The new plugin engine seems to have this under control.

From: Melita Magic I'm guessing the business or place described is new to Second Life. No, I've seen what it's supposed to be, there should be a link on the website search page for people to follow but they've messed it up slightly and the text part of that link was appearing in other listings. Liana said they know about it and will fix it.
