Everything does eventually right itself, but it takes 5-10 seconds and is very annoying.
Does this only happen to me? Why does it happen and how can I prevent it? Thanks

I keep getting this. About 75% of the time, when I get off a pose ball - like when I sit down and then stand up - my avatar goes into limbo. She's stuck floating in the middle of nowhere, she can rotate but not walk, the "stand up" button at the bottom of the screen is still there and clicking on it frantically doesn't help. "Stop all animations" doesn't help. "Reset camera view" doesn't help.

This is an old bug. You're going to the very SW corner of the region - to position 0/0/0.
I don't know any solution aside from just waiting it out. _____________________

Yes a very old bug. Still unresolved, and to my knowlage has been around since the beginning of SL. No known fix except to wait it out.
This is one of those things that I have to say really bothers me, not so much it happening but that after all this time LL still has not been able to fix it.. Though more than likely they just don't care to fix it. *sighs* |

Pretty sure it's a packet loss thing, a single ObjectUpdate packet not arriving causes this easily
When this happens, you may appear to be off the edge of the region you're in. If you can cam around in the region you are actually in and find a poseball, you'll be able to sit on it and see yourself in the right place again. Then stand up again and hope you get the update I guess Ah! Found another way! Edit one of your attachments and click New Script. This makes the sim send an ObjectUpdate for your avatar _____________________

I found that sometimes I can just tp back to where I was and sometimes it works..and others I crash. But I did discover, I am usually on the bottom of the ocean somewhere. I can cam up to the sky and look around. Sometimes there is an island nearby, sometimes not...but doesn't matter...can't walk or fly anyway

Aha! Simpler solution! Toggle 'always run' on/off by pressing Ctrl+R.
