These are the chats listed in Preferences:
System Users Object Owner Bubble (does anybody use this?) URL Which ones are seen by everybody? System, Users, Object? I'm assuming Owner chat is seen only by me? (and this is my main question) For example, if I change a walking or sitting animation in my ZHAO, information is displayed in Owner chat, so I'm not spamming the world at large, right? One of those things I feel like I should know by now, but, well, I don't  _____________________

Correct. "Owner chat" is what's produced by the script function llOwnerSay, which goes just to the owner. (I was appalled to discover that some old attachments I'd been wearing were actually using Object chat instead of Owner, so everybody around me got to listen-in while my freebie hugger boasted of its existence every time I TP'd anywhere. )YIKES. Thank you for this good information. I learn something new every day, it seems. This is an issue I didn't know about, let alone pay attention to since starting SL...heh... /me quietly looks around, scanning the vicinity for visitors, hoping no one noticed what bits and pieces were attached... |

"Bubble" just puts each person's chat in a bubble above their heads, like a cartoon word baloon. This is an option, as opposed to the "normal" line-by-line chat display.
Some people like it. I don't, because it's harder for me to keep track of who's saying what, and replying to whom...and because you can't see what people behind you are saying. _____________________
