I can not even use SL now, every time after about 30 min on SL my display driver stops responding and I crash..
If you want me to pay the increase in OS fees, can you PLEASE work on support for my video driver as I can not even remain in SL long enough to enjoy it!!!!
As you know, I have send an error report after ever crash,.... I wonder who reads these?
Thank you for your prompt attention to this matter.

Linden Lab doesn't officialy read the Resident Answers forum, sorry. You really might need to contact them via the JIRA

Open you computer case and point a fan at the inside. If you can then stay online for over an hour your problem is not software related. Just something to check since high-graphic intensive apps have been know to cause overheating issues which have symtpoms similar to what you described.
And ...
Linden Lab does not make the drivers for nVidia products. The latest nVidia driver is known to have problems. have you tried rolling back to a previous version?

There is no previous version this is a new graphic card.... new drivers etc... its also not a heat issue. My internal temps are fine. When I sign off SL I get a the program has stopped responding everytime.. its not heat its SL and my drivers, the older drivers wont work.. as mentioned in another post re: same graphic card... Many of us get this the display adapter stoped respionding When I sign onto SL I get an alert saying SL does not support or whatever that message is.... And I know SL doesn;t make drivers. But they do and can add somethign the geeky programers do to actually run with thos drivers, right? and to the other person, yeah I know they do not officially read the posts, I just am doing a bit of venting sorry. I will contact the JIR r or.. um.. how do I get there?

From: Tarina Sewell There is no previous version this is a new graphic card.... new drivers etc... its also not a heat issue. My internal temps are fine. The 9500 desktop card came out last July, and the mobile cards with the same number have been available since last February. Nothing in the GeForce 9 series is brand new. If you're talking desktop, then any GeForce 9 driver set released in the last few months should work. Here's an archive: http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?id=10If it's a laptop card, then it might be a little more tricky. You might need to contact the manufacturer to get a driver. Also, your internal temps may READ as being fine, but I've had to open my case and just point a fan directly at it a few times in order to keep from crashing.

With it open, I remember to spray it out with canned air every couple of days. Dust bunnies and dog hair love my computer, even with the case on.

I will contact the JIR r or.. um.. how do I get there? http://jira.secondlife.com/ - use your SL login information to log into it, then search (I'd go with the card name, or at least the make) and see what it says.

Also, there are 3 internal fans in my machine and I keep the room fairly cool.. I am not overclocking and running at manf. suggest settings.. Also, It can run PS, Poser, Winamp and open office at once and I don't have display driver failed to respond issue.... And unreal tournament runs like a champ.. So if it were a heating isue, you would think those programs woudl effect as well. SL is the only program that give me hassle,, NEway, ty for that driver info I will check into that..All I got were the most recent and had trouble finding old drivers. Let me try this... /me crosses fingers

From: Tarina Sewell Its a new video card in my computer, I had to rebuild it cause I my mother board fried... because apparently teh gforce 8800 which I had before, was drawing to much power and the PSU failed and then of course the mobo failed... I hate to tell you this but the 8800 is MUCH more powerful than the 9500. With nVidia, typically the second digit is much more important than the first. The second denotes the card's performance level, while the first merely denotes its production series. The only significant difference between the 8 & 9 series is manufacturing technique, and pwer consumption. There were no new performance features of note added with the 9's that weren't present in the 8's. And just so you know, the 9500 is the second worst card in the 9 series (only the 9400/9200 is lower), while the 8800 is the highest in the 8 series. So basically, you neutered your performance to save a few watts of power. Instead of replacing that 8800 with the 9500, you'd have been a lot better off just upgrading to better power supply. From: Tarina Sewell Also, there are 3 internal fans in my machine and I keep the room fairly cool.. I am not overclocking and running at manf. suggest settings.. Three fans is an OK start, but it's not just the number that matters (not that three is a particularly high number, anyway). What kind the fans are, their locations, what direction they're blowing, how your wiring is strung, how all the vents are configured, how clean everything is, etc., all can have a huge impact on temperatures. All that said, I still think your problem is a driver issue, not an overheating issue. Hopefully changing drivers will solve it. From: Tarina Sewell Also, It can run PS, Poser, Winamp and open office at once and I don't have display driver failed to respond issue.... That doesn't mean anything, unfortunately. None of those programs are very GPU-intensive. You could be running garbage integrated graphics, and they'd still work just fine. (Unless you're talking Photoshop CS4, which does take advantage of the GPU in ways no previous version ever did.) From: Tarina Sewell And unreal tournament runs like a champ.. So if it were a heating isue, you would think those programs woudl effect as well. SL is the only program that give me hassle,, Unreal's gonna push the graphics, yes, but it's not going to straing the system as much as SL will. SL is particularly brutal on computers. For it to perform properly, you really need to keep your machine in tip top shape. Video games will always be more forgiving if your system is "out of tune" than SL will. No game has to do the the things SL does. From: Tarina Sewell NEway, ty for that driver info I will check into that..All I got were the most recent and had trouble finding old drivers.

I crash so much I dont even know why I bother signing on... That link you gave me had older drivers for XP and nothing for Vista that is not what I already have in there. You run on XP correct? The Only vista driver i see is 180. Maybe I can return this card.. but I seriously liked my 8800 once I got the older drivers for it... I miss my old ATI card, but I understand that has ussues as well with SL... Honestly.. I wish to cry and it is becoming increasingly annoying to change my advanced setting so 10 minutes later I crash, have to wait for the SL time out then have to do it all over again... (BTW- I really appreciate all the information you give me)

Used to have a 7900 and the heat was a bad problem with it. Kept the case open and used a floor fan/ When I built new I made damn sure I will never have to worry about heat again with a 8800GT or anything in the future;
1 - 7" fan 2 - 5" fans 2 - 3" fans

From: Tarina Sewell probably except for the fact when the motherboard and psu died it took my 8800 with it,,, Ouch. Sorry to hear that. Just so you know, you can still get 8800 GT's and GTS's on NewEgg, and they're pretty cheap these days: http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=40000048&Description=geforce%208800&name=Desktop%20Graphics%20%2f%20Video%20CardsIf you want a GTX or an Ultra (considerably more expensive), they're a bit harder to find, but if you spend a little time with Google, you'll find a few still kicking around. For example: http://www.xpcgear.com/768p2n881ar.htmlOr you could go with a 9800, if you want to stick with the 9 series: http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=40000048&Description=geforce%209800&name=Desktop%20Graphics%20%2f%20Video%20CardsFrom: Tarina Sewell That link you gave me had older drivers for XP and nothing for Vista that is not what I already have in there. You run on XP correct? The Only vista driver i see is 180. Here's the Vista archive, from the same site : http://downloads.guru3d.com/Videocards---NVIDIA-GeForce-Vista-32|64_c32.html Maybe I can return this card.. but I seriously liked my 8800 once I got the older drivers for it... I miss my old ATI card, but I understand that has ussues as well with SL... From: Tarina Sewell (BTW- I really appreciate all the information you give me) No problem. My heart always goes out to those having hardware problems. It's the most frustrating thing for any computer user.
