I want to get Premium (annual) by buying it with the L$ I already have. However, I don't know if that is possible. This is the ONLY I can afford premium. So, is it possible and, if so, is there a special way that's done?
Thank you, Gay Flatley

I'm not sure how it would be done..but I think it's possible..maybe?

You will need to sell the L$ in your account on the Second Life website to get a US Dollar balance. Use that balance to upgrade to Premium.

my partner and I have financed two years on 98% Lindens. As mentioned you sell your Lindens, though I have heard that Lindens were considering the straight exchange and wish they would but wouldn't wait for that. The only real reason to go to premium is for land.
Though I am not a fan of leased land ( I got to own mine with no covenants) there are several good land leasers out there and some take Lindens some take rl $'s and you dont need to be a Premium member.

Don't you have to have a Premium account to sell L$? Because even though I have been on SL since August of last year and have payment info of file, I'm stuck on 'New Residents 0-1 days.' I think you have to BUY L$ before you can get it raised, but I don't want to buy any. Is there a way I can sell my L$ without having to buy L$?
Thanks, Gay Flatley

Thanks, Gay Flatley If you go through support, I think you can request an up in your limits, as long as you supply a reason. If it's getting them money, they'll likely accept it

Gay, you can open an account in SLExchange and sell your Lindens there. The exchange is comparable to the Lindex.

Hm, that's true. But, he could round out the money via Paypal. SLX->Paypal->Lindex. Using the "Raise Credit" button and using Paypal as payment.

I'm hoping that will allow it because they are getting money. Thanks for the heads up.

Thanks for the heads up. anytime ^__^ ANd Calveen, I think Paypal requires a credit or bank account attached to it, though I'm not 100% sure. I think the point is to not have to use it..but I'm unsure there as well. Definitely a viable option at any rate ^_^

I believe you can have a personal PayPal account without any external account info; but to withdraw the money or to be considered "Verified" you do need to attach a bank account to it.
If you are just using PayPal as the mule to transfer funds from SLX to LindeX, I don't think you need to be verified though. I could be wrong.

I don't think you need to be premium to sell L$ on the Lindex. What you do need though is to have some payment info that has been used, in order to 'start the clock' on the lindex limits. In other words, it starts with the limits at $0 but if you buy even US$1 on the lindex, that starts the clock and in a month you'll have the level-1 resident lindex limits, and be able to sell up to US$2500 per month.
The only kicker being, you need to use your payment info at least once to get the whole thing rolling.

It's a shame about the buying/selling limits, although I understand the need for it. I was fortunate enough to be able to fund a premium account, buy a modest mainland plot (and increase the size later) for my business, and cover fees and tier without spending a dime of real money. It was disappointing to find that, despite a year of this type of activity, I was forced to let LL bill my bank account in order to secure usable selling limits once the new system was put in place. On paper my SL is still self-sustaining (with a bit of pocket money left over) but it's the principle - I was (perversely?) proud of being a "self-made avatar", with a modestly successful business, while not even having payment info on file.
Oh well. At least LL doesn't think I'm a money-launderer.
