Has similar specs to my Dell Mini 9 (netbook computer) - at least the processor.

Going by my Dell, it will run SL, but expect to set all graphics sliders to minimum and you might get about 3 frames per second, until the (uncooled) processor heats up. After about 10 minutes online, I end up dropping to near 1 fps (can you say slideshow?)

I wouldn't buy it for that specific purpose, but I use mine on occasions for a quick login from time to time.

Edited to add: I noticed the Lenovo has an internal cooling fan, so the eventual slowdown would either be postponed or may never occur. However, I stand by the rest of the post.

Expect no better than 5 to 12 frames per second, even an minimum settings for graphics. Pretty poor performance for SL. Not a good choice.

Not very well.

Nothing with an Intel Atom CPU and Intel GMA graphics will run SL well.

Thanks for all the replies.

Basically, I'm thinking of getting a netbook/notebook/something smaller than a laptop for traveling (email, little things like that).

As a fun extra, I thought if it could run SL too that would be nice (for those downtime moments).

If there's one that can run it (on low would be ok) that would be one thing that would get me to consider it. Not a priority, just something nice if it was possible.

If anyone has a opinion/experience on that, I've love to hear.

Thanks again.

Well, I definitely would not recommend a light-weight laptop like that for normal use. They really are never designed for high-end 3D gaming and other demanding graphics needs like SL. Such laptops are intended for e-mail and word procesing, and not much more. But for only occasional use, such as checking SL on down-time while travelling, it will do.

My first 16 months or so in SL, all I had that could access the Grid was a first generation Mac Mini, and it rarely ever got more than 10 frames per second, even with very restricted graphics settings. 5 was more typical. But it was good enough to get me started. And the laptop you're asking about is a little better than that old Mac Mini was.

I was MUCH happier later, when I got a better computer to use for SL.

Seems the other day while Googling something netbook related, I kept seeing references to a netbook touted as a gaming netbook. Didn't follow up but I think it was a Samsung. Might be worth a look anyway.
