Has anyone run a numbers comparison to determine if it is more profitable to sell Lindens on the Lindex, or through SLExchange? Taking into consideration exchange rates and fees. I'm not good at figuring that kind of thing out. Has anyone figured it out?

Thanks,

Anecdotal evidence suggests it's better to buy on SLX and sell via the LindeX. Of course, SLX also tends to process payouts more quickly, so that may be a determining factor too.

I believe both give you an estimated payout total before you actually complete the sale though, so why not enter the L$ amount on each and see what it says?

I am bumping you to an 8.5 on the Official Trout Measuring Instrument of Sluttiness. You are an enigma - on the one hand a sweet, gentle, intelligent woman who we would like to wrap up in our arms and protect, and on the other, a temptress to whom we would like to do all sorts of unmentionable things.

Congratulations and shame on you! You are a bit of a slut.

I know you want real numbers and a bunch of people are going to post here with a ton of anecdotal evidence which isn't helpful. Nonetheless, here's my anecdote. I get the impression that if you are willing to put your orders out there joining the existing best bid or offer then LindeX is better. If you're the kind of person that just hits or lifts then SLX is better.

Thanks, both of you. I have a balance in SLExchange, as well as a balance in world in Second Life. I'd like to cash them out into USD, and pull out via PayPal into my bank account. Just trying to figure out the best way to do with without getting totally dinged on fees.

Anyone else have any experience with this?

Thanks,

I think SLX is a bit easier on the fees and considerably faster on the transfer to your PayPal account.

Someone can post the numbers for SLX.

LindeX:

Market sell: L$274/$1 (L$283.9/$1)
Limit sell: L$263/$1 (L$272.5$1)

First number is the LindeX exchange rate, second is the adjusted exchange rate that takes the 3.5% fee into account.

To cash out there's an additional $1 fee.

Or to send $100 to PayPal you'd need L$27529 on the LindeX. If the amount of L$ needed to cash out $100 on SLex is less then it's better (yields more US$ per L$), if it's higher then it's worse (less US$ per L$).

Thanks, Kitty. This is great. I haven't been watching the market. Didn't realize the dollar/Linden ratio had climbed so much. It used to be around $266.

Anyone have a comparable analysis for SLX? One that takes into account fees, including Paypal?

I have Lindens in SLX account now to sell. If I want to transfer my ingame Lindens over to SLX as well to sell, is there a fee to do that?

Thanks for all the input.

There is no fee to transfer lindens to SLX, you can do that at any SLX terminal. There is one at my store in Shona. It costs US$1 to transfer any amount of dollars from SL to PayPal. I have never transferred dollars from SLX to PayPal but after some searching I found this. "PayPal Withdrawal Handling: 2.0% to a maximum of $1.00 US"

Just remember the LindeX can easly take a month or more SLX has alwas been about 2 seconds for me ie by the time I open the browser to my paypal account its already in there.
And if there is a problem in the transaction SLX does something called customer service lol LindeX dosent.
You can put in an order on SLX to sell your lindens at any rate you want I think the same with LindeX.
Over all SLX is just fast and has customer service and if you know how to do the orders you will get a much better price on SLX everytime.

Transfers from LindeX to Paypal usually take about 4 business days sometimes 5. I transfer money out pretty regularly so that's a reliable number. It'll never ever take a month.

On LindeX if you set your money up for sale for 263 it may take a while to actually get exchanged depending on the market. The times can vary from 1 day to 5 days. If you do 264 it'll be pretty much guaranteed that day. What you're basically doing is putting your offer out there and waiting for people to hit it.

The main thing I don't like about SLX is I don't quite understand how to use it efficiently. I like to think of myself as a pretty bright guy but I just can't quite tell what the best rate is on SLX. The fact that no-one is posting in this thread to say what the current market and best limit rates are is a sign that maybe no-one does.

I've recently looked at the PayPal site and found:

"There is a withdrawal fee of US$5.00 (or local currency equivalent) per transaction. Currency conversion and return fees may also apply. Visit the fees page to learn more.

This was in a discussion on sending US dollars in a PayPal account to a credit card account (to pay down the credit card, in other words). I got the impression that this 'withdrawal fee' would be charged from withdrawals from PayPal to bank accounts, too, but....??

No its not, at least not for me. I can transfer from Paypal to my associated checking account for no fee.
