Title says it all really.

Has anyone complied a current linux Livecd with SL built into it.

I've tried some of the older ones and they either won't run at all or the Linden servers reject the version of linux in them all together.

Live cd's are just used for administration tasks: make partitions, back ups etc, also to see how the distro looks like. But considering that live cds use RAM space to store the OS, instead of the HD, the system is much slower, and imagine running sl on a live cd!!!.

om another thread, someone reported running SL off a flash drive. i can't imagine the performance is very good. still waiting for a reply to hear how the experience went. i suspect it would be much the same as using a CD.

Actually the Live CD's store the OS on the CD/DVD, and only have things recently accessed/currently running in RAM. and in anycase SL runs quite well on a live CD.

To the OP...

This one http://www.libsecondlife.org/sl still worked as of last month when i used it last, but you HAVE to have a nvidia card. You will have to download the latest SL client software yourself. I kept the latest client, and a copy of my ./secondlife folder on a flash drive to transfer over when knoppix was running.

As an alternative try a ubuntu live CD and install the nvidia drivers http://tinyurl.com/2uv22c and download the SL client. (or use Michelle2 Zenovka's debs)
