Hi Ladies,
What do you all think of the Prim nails out there? I've seen quite a few stores selling them, and on the photos of course they look great.
Do you use them? What do you think of them?

I love my prim (finger) nails
. They come in 40ish different styles and it just looks so much better than the regular avie nails.I've had mine for 6 months now I think and other than clothes that need the gloves layer, I always have them on .They're not perfect though (but then nothing in SL is): they attach to the left and right hand respectively, so if you currently wear a ring you'll run into a problem there (things like a handbag sometimes like to attach to the hand instead of the arm too, so you'd need to fix those). They don't always play nice with animations either if they twist the hand the wrong way around, and while it does personally bother me in all that time noone really made a comment about it so either people really don't notice, or they're too polite to point it out . |

If you've never tried them, they are gloves/socks which are transparent except for the nails. I use that type...she was asking about prim nails. ![]() _____________________

Forgot to mention that (with the ones I have at least) they're fitted to a fixed hand size (mine come in hand size 20/30/40) so if your shape is no mod, they might not work for you at all.

they look nice, until you make a fist, or splay your fingers, or do any other hand gesture other than the one they were designed for, then you end up with 10 little prims floating around your hands and looking wierd...

Exactly, Darien.
I absolutely love the look of them...SO much nicer than "glove" nails. But I can't keep the darn things on! They pop off all by themselves, get blown off by poseballs, and flee back to your inventory if you do something rash like try to pick up something, or wear a ring on your hand. Prim nails are one of the reasons I'm always lobbying for more attachment points. _____________________

The same is true for most prim skirts (sit down or move in front of a transparent prim and you're wearing odd looking pants all of a sudden), or long hair (dance, or sit and suddenly that cute pony tail is poke through your chest), or prim shoes (parts of your leg turn invisible due to the invisiprim) though and we still prance around in all those thing .This is true. I guess it's just that the hand gesture issue happens to be a big pet peeve of mine. It seems to bother me more than any of that. _____________________

I love my prim talons and rarely take them off. I have specifically searched for AO poses that work well with them and I rarely have any issue with them looking weird.

I use the socks and gloves versions and have never tried the prim ones before. I don't think I've ever seen anyone wearing them either so I can't tell how good/bad they are. I did get an advertisement once for a shoe that came with prim toes.

The TaP prim nails have an override to keep the hand in proper position. Some badly made animations with the priority set too high (the most popular dance anims unfortunately) will interfere though.
![]() They do look much more realistic most of the time! ![]() _____________________

Never given nails much thought! I'm a practical, busy person so I keep mine clipped short. I suppose being able to change the colour might be nice occasionally, but having more detailed ones is adding detail beyond that of much of the rest of SL, so pointless except for photoshoots or if you have really long witchy nails!
