Hi, hope some one can help, i run windows vista and have the new Photoshop CS3, i have tried to download objects and textures into SL, with a tranparent backgound but they always come through white. Any ideas as new to Photoshop CS3. The main i have is a button on a black background i make it transparent the back ground but then save and when i download is white background not transparent.

Hope this all makes sense.

I really don't think that anything is different in CS3 from the CS2 I'm using. First of all do you have an alpha layer? And secondly are you saving the image file as a 32-bit targa? If you save it as a 24-bit, you will not save the alpha channels (and get a white background instead).

To make an alpha layer, duplicate your button and desaturate it to black and white. Copy this layer and click on your channels tab. Create a new alpha channel and paste the black and white layer into this alpha channel. Turn it off and turn on your RGB layers and you should see your image as normal. Your alpha layer should represent back as the areas that will be transparent and the white areas should be what you want to be visible. Use levels or curves if you need to embellish the white part. Save as a 32 bit targa and you're good to go!

Does this help? /109/32/80851/1.html In any case, you'd probably get a better answer to your question in the Texturing Tips forum. :)

I am bumping you to an 8.5 on the Official Trout Measuring Instrument of Sluttiness. You are an enigma - on the one hand a sweet, gentle, intelligent woman who we would like to wrap up in our arms and protect, and on the other, a temptress to whom we would like to do all sorts of unmentionable things.

Congratulations and shame on you! You are a bit of a slut.
