Is there a simple way , like 1 click, to turn off your online status for all your friends ? I know you can set the preference where only your friends and groups can see your online status, but sometimes I want to turn off status for friends as well. Instead of click on the button for each friend , I am trying to locate a one or two click solution that turns it off for everyone. Granted this is not true invisibility, since that is impossible, but even a little privacy is desirable sometimes.

You know that big red switch at the back of the PC?
Pep (Seriously, this keeps getting asked and the answer is no, so you might as well make a misanthropic alt) _____________________

Not with just one click, no
one click: To log off. A few more clicks: To log on as an alt. _____________________
Sorry, LL won't let me tell you where I sell my textures and where I offer my services as a sim builder. Ask me in-world.

Actually, this website only shows if you are logged into the website - not tied to the game login at all. However, there are so many other ways to find out if someone is logged in. If in same group, that shows online or not. There is the friend list page, but that was really borky when I started, and over these two years. I am not sure if it works correctly or not now. _____________________

Set your status as "Busy."
Telling people that you are not always available to them is good practise if one has trouble setting boundaries in rl. _____________________

Yes, a group will show which members are online at the moment. If I've not checked box in my preferences that says "only let my friends see my online status" then pulling up my profile will show the Teleport option if I am online - of course, if I have View Admin options on, I will see the Teleport option on someones profile no matter what their settings are. And of course, I can always send an IM and know right away if the person is online or not. _____________________

(When it works, that is, which seems to be the norm for me lately) _____________________

The Friends List page is using the same thing as the inworld one though -- if you are on my Friends List and I uncheck the box for you to see if I am online, you won't see me online via the Friends List webpage either. And of course, I can always send an IM and know right away if the person is online or not. Huh. I've thought I've seen people that had taken me off being able to see them. I know there is one cat that removed me from being able to see them on online, without removing me from her list, but I have seen her listed as being on line on the friend list on the friend page on the website a few times. And, yes, they had removed me. I've also seen them in world in group but not on inworld list (and once sitting on a horse next to me, still not visible on friend list as on-line, though still on list). If I've not checked box in my preferences that says "only let my friends see my online status" then pulling up my profile will show the Teleport option if I am online - of course, if I have View Admin options on, I will see the Teleport option on someones profile no matter what their settings are. Well, you see their teleport option even if they are off-line if you have admin on. You also see other options that you normally don't see, and which do not necessarily mean anything. _____________________

The best thing to do is to not have friends in SL. Just put on a ugly avatar and be extra obnoxious. It's easy..

ETA - I just logged my alt in and unchecked the box for me to see her and then went to the Friends Online page and her name does not list. I then recheck the box, go to that page again and she is now listed. Now the odd thing is that no matter how many times I refreshed my Firefox page, nor how long I waited between refreshes, the display of her name or lack thereof, never actually changed until I left the page and came back. After leaving the page and returning though, it did properly show or not based upon how I had it checked/not-checked inworld. _____________________
