I bought a cage, erected it in a room I use as home, then went off to meet a friend in a different place. When I returned to my home the cage had gone. It has not re-appeared in my inventory.

I have checked 'lost & found', not there.

My 'home' does not belong to me, but I do have permission to 'build' there.

help please

If you didn't have the land's group tag on when you rezzed it, it may have been auto-returned, in which case, it should be in your L&F folder, or maybe in your Trash folder. Or it could take a while to get back to you. I've known things arrive the next day, and some things never arrive at all. So check if auto-return is on. If it is, that's probably what happened.

Two weeks ago I tried to rez an item on my own parcel and it disappeared. Showed up a week later, no title or description, with all the scripts gone. Totally useless. Also, it evidently was showing up in the prim count on my property, even though it was nominally returned from some other place entirely. My prims available went up by the amount of the object on the day it was returned, even though it was not physically (in the SL sense) on the property. No idea what happened.

It's not uncommon for poseballs from the sex and cuddle furniture that I sell to be returned to me from other sims - presumably from where the customers placed them. I got the latest pair yesterday. I've no idea why it happens because I don't own them at the time, but it doesn't matter in this case because the furniture will rezz more balls.

I've noticed that the poseballs get left behind when you don't 'stop' MLPV furniture before taking the furniture back into inventory. That could be what's happening in these cases.

Sometimes it happens that it gets returned but don“t show up becuase of missed packets or network problems, if that happens the best way is to manualy delete all cache files, that will force SL to rebuild the inventory on your local hard drive and it most likely will show up again unless it got eaten by the assets servers.

They do get left behind like that, but it won't/shouldn't cause them to be returned to me, let alone returned to the actual owner.

The MLP poseballs receive a message from the object (bed or whatever) every 60 seconds. If they don't receive the message, they kill (destroy) themselves.

Something is definitely screwy with parcel objects lately, and not just in the very most recent sim roll-out. I had a parcel that I stripped bare, no objects listed by owner--and yet two prims counted on the parcel. And there have been reports of the resurfacing of a very old bug that returns parcel owner prims when some completely unrelated resident overfills the parcel (which shouldn't be possible in the first place).

But some cages have fairly exotic scripts, so the OP's plight might just possibly be the cage itself having wandered off somewhere it doesn't belong. Assuming that clearing cache doesn't help, and if auto-return is not turned on for the parcel, I'd first try a sensor scan for the object, all the way up to 4096m, and a search at sim <0, 0, 0>, and if it doesn't turn up, IM the creator to see if there's any history of this model going walkabout all on its own.

When you are on the land, click the land's name in the top bar. The About Land box will open. Look in the Objects tab and you'll see the Autoreturn setting. If it's 0, it isn't on. Anything more thatn 0 is the number of minutes delay before objects that are rezzed on the parcel, that shouldn't be rezzed there, will be returned to their owners.
