Hi everyone!

I am part of a group of students from a university in Singapore. We are currently doing a research on users’ perception toward virtual world participation.

We would appreciate it very much if you could help us by spending about 10-15 minutes to complete a short survey:

http://webx.ntu.edu.sg/survey/se.ashx?s=5BD8D08E24834B51

Your help will help us greatly in understanding more about the virtual world community.

Thanks in advance!

Cassi, do a search on survey, they come up a lot and the community here is tiny compared to those active in SL, you will not necessarily get a representative view.

Go in world, talk to people...

Cassi. You only have one post here. I can't tell if you have ever actually spent time in Second Life or not, or if you are just trying to toss a survey together without putting out any actual effort and hoping to make your teacher happy.

If you want real data, this is the wrong place to get it. Surveys are met with hostility here because they are thrust upon us so often, often rudely (although yours was not rude). Plus, like has already been noted, we are a tiny portion of the population of Second Life.

If you want to actually learn about virtual communities, you are going to have to go into Second life and explore it yourself. Find the sub-communities, experience the activities and the creativity. make some friends and join some groups, attend events. I've been here over a year and I have just barely scratched the surface. This isn't something you can understand with a survey. It's just a bad research technique here.

Lay your head down on the tracks. You can hear the train coming better that way.

Hi guys!

I've just been assigned to this project and the survey is only a portion of it. I've actually registered an account in Second Life and have actually gone in world. I'm still exploring and learning in world by getting to know people there. It has been a great experience so far even though I'm new.

Despite being a small portion of SL, I hope to get your help because every response is valuable to me and my team. Therefore, I thank you so much if you could still help me with the survey.

Wish you all well,

Cassi

I have to say, that was a little different than most of the surveys I've taken via the forums. I think it might have been helpful to have a space at the end for comments.

Ya, I know - I'm a sucker for surveys. Oh, well.
