Have you started groups you can't remember at all?

I came across a group today that I founded but I'm not in it anymore and when I saw it I didn't remember forming it.

I remember now, but there for a minute it seemed a bit odd.

In this case it was a shortlived, mundane idea that didn't work out.

I found this by using the Search All and putting my name in. I'd have never remembered on my own, I suspect.

Another way a person might form a group and have no memory of it would be to get drunk and make a group and not even remember it the next day. You might have be in that situation right now, or have been in that situation in the past.

Have you started groups you forgot about forming?

Well, I've created alts and completely forgotten about them for months on end... If I don't plan on using an alt, I try to shut it down gracefully and ask the Lindens to delete the account. But I know of at least one or two that I created, and which I no longer have a clue how to access... and yet I can still find references to them in Search. Since I can't recall their passwords or other pertenant info any more, I can't even tell the Lindens to delete them. Ghosts...

As for groups, I've made several that i intentionally disbanded when their purpose was completed. But I was always the last person to leave and shut off the lights, as it were.

Is that the one I keep hearing about which caused a big fracas recently? Co-owned by some loud mouthed country bumpkin? ;)

LMAO! That was perfect, even though it caused diet coke to be spewed all over my desk.

This is one of those logic questions that can't be answered correctly, right? If I say yes, then obviously I remember something about the group so the answer must be no. But if I answer no when in fact I have done exacly that and forgot all about it then I should have answered yes whicch leads me back to the first point .....

Can God make a rock that's so big, he can't lift it?

I wish that people would stop abusing groups. I believe I decline at least 1 group invitation per day, most days 2.

Not necessarily, although the seeming paradox is not accidental. It's part of the reason to ask the question.

In the case given I had forgotten completely about forming the group, but came across it by accident in search. My memory of starting the group is vague, but I do sort of remember it. It would be quite possible though to start a group and forget it completely, then find evidence of it and your role as creator that you find convincing, but still not remember it.

We do things all the time that we don't remember doing, but we did them. When driving, for example, most folks won't have a memory of giving turn signals, but a good driver gives them most every time they are required.

I used to lock the door at work at the end of the workday, then get almost all the way home and realize that I couldn't remember locking the door. I had to go back and check. Every time I did this I had locked the door. I could remember to lock the door but not that I had locked it. I developed a stylized ritual to help me avoid having to drive back ten miles - leave building, lock door, walk partway to car, turn around and walk back to door, push and pull on the door, look inside at the clock, say "It's Tuesday, Feb 19, 8:30, and I locked the door". That way when I got down the road I might not really remember locking the door but I could remember that I had checked it and that it was locked.
