Hello,
I have a small question. Have you ever decided to switch the ownership of land from one group to the other without managing to have any item returned? I am trying to do that with someone and we fear that we'll have to rebuild everything if we switch our lots to the new group we created.

I did it once and it was ugly. Basically I had to turn off autoreturn. Take possession of the land myself (meaning holding the tier for it too). Change the group. Then manually go back and reset every object on the land to group. THen turn auto return back on and pray. Took days to do.
That was a long time ago and there might be a better way now. I just dont know.

you will have to turn off autoreturn, and click many prims at once, *highlight by using the box* and change the group its set to. After you have switched as many as you can see, then go to about land and see how many prims are NOT set to group. It should help you before you flip the switch and turn on autoreturn once again.

If all the items ar your own you can just highlight all of them at once and change group ... I am lucky that it was at a time of self build only with no one else's stuff. Kind of satisfying seeing a whole beach lit up and changeable in one go. My only other tip is to make sure you keep using the object tools in About Land to track down the elusive and infuriating single prim left unassigned ... that took three hours before I found it, a tiny accoustic globe of ducks quacking

I put my land into a group with the zombot alt and managed to auto-return my entire Egotherapy Centre, like I've mentioned on here before about 300 times. So my first advice about playing with land ownership settings is 'DON'T', followed by a more considered 'if you really have to, make sure everything on it is saved, and if too big to link, is all take-copied in clusters'.

I remember being a dumb nublet and having spent ages making "my dream home" (bless ... tho it still feels like paradise lost) I sectioned off a little bit of land to send back something which had gone underground (had no idea about rendering options) and then sent back not a 16sqm with 7 prims or so but ... EVERYTHING ...
I was properly heartbroken. Refused to build for a long time!
