I have an odd question. I have a play partner whom we do adult things quite often. Funny thing is whenever I take my cloths off she still sees me as dressed the entire time. I use the emerald viewer but I don't recall if she uses RLV or emerald. Both are adult verified.

has she rebaked?

It takes sometimes a while for me to see my partners change of clothing, and I usually have to rebake.......

After you undress you may need to rebake the textures on your avatar. Pressing CTRL-ALT-R will do this and should take care of the problem.

Better still wear surgery scrubs or a firefighter's uniform. She'll just think you're kinky.

The avatar whose clothes are not appearing properly (in this case you) is the one who needs to rebake.

This is sometimes a sign of packet loss.

You take off clothes.
Your viewer sends messages to server.
Server sends messages to every viewer that can see you.

If those messages get lost along the way, people still see your clothes. "Rebaking" resends the messages.

However, if the person seeing your clothing incorrectly is the one experiencing packet loss and experiencing lots of it, the other person rebaking may not help much.

Question -- Does Edit Appearance do a rebake also? It seems that many people can fix these type of glitches by Rebaking or going into Edit Appearance.

I was told that doing edit-appearance is useful if someone else says you're stuck as a white puffcloud, but I don't know if it helps if you have the wrong textures - I rebake for that.

Is rebake in emerald ctrl+alt+R? That did not seem to work when either one of us did it.

Do you have "Advanced menu" up? It's on the top line to the right, next to "Edit""Help" "World" and the other menus.

If not, press ctrl+alt+D, or opt+ctrl+D if you use Mac. Choose "Character" from the drop down menu. Then "Rebake textures". Repeat this several times. Go to "Edit Appearance" and change just one point of one of the settings, I presume you wear something that's modify, clothes or shape.

TP to a empty sim, clear cache and log off and in again. If nothing of this helps, I have no idea what you can do. I sometimes see "Reset router" and such suggestions, try to go a few pages back in Resident Answers, it was a similar question asked recently.

It seems the packet loss thing is your problem. However, that isn't necessarily the server's fault. There are things you can do about it yourself such as clearing cache: go to 'Edit > Preferences > Network' and click the button says 'Clear Cache' then relog. Ask your girlfriend to do the same. This often sorts a lot of issues with SL. If you haven't cleared cache since your rez day and you're not an alt, your system is probably clogged up with textures from everywhere you've been so far and this can often stop new textures and animation files loading efficiently.

The drag is that familiar places will take a bit longer to reload when you log back in-world because of course your system has to acquire a lot of files all over again. Animations will have to be cached so you and your girlfriend might find yourselves frozen mid-air in dumb positions for short periods of time between scene changes and AO animations like stands and walks will likewise be a little hit-or-miss until your system reacquaints itself with the files. Buildings and objects will be grey and then very blurry until the textures are fully loaded.

You might also look at improving bandwidth through your service provider and maybe giving your computer an overhaul. Post your computer specs with details of the graphics card, RAM and so forth here and see what folk have to suggest.

One other thing: try the regular viewer. Emerald certainly has a lot of interesting bells and whistles but I get the impression it's a laggy pain-in-the-butt if you're not au fait with the general ins-and-outs of SL (no pun intended).
