Better Buisness Bureau Gives LL an "F"

The only thing that surprises me about this article is that the overall number of Better Business Bureau complaints is lower than I expected. I have a feeling that most people don't know what their options are in a serious dispute with Linden Lab.

Not surprising, considering how spread out SL is. The international community might not know what the BBB is, and if they do, they would still have to put out a lot of effort to complain - probably more than it's worth to them. A lot of people don't care enough to complain over relatively small transactions, either, or they get so fed up with LL's lack of service that they just leave. Why bother complaining if you never want to come back.

The question that has been bugging me for a while is why LL ignores customer problems? It's like they hope that if they pretend it doesn't exist long enough, it will go away. All it really does is create liabilities for them, loses them customers and gets them a failing grade with the BBB.

I am so pissed at that writer! Thumbs down for her subjective views. Ugly. Grrrr.

43 complaints over 3 years? Sure, not everyone knows what the BBB is and so it is not representative of all complaints, but on the other hand LL does provide forum space for us to help each other solve common problems. But, I will not defend the LL business model of keeping its users in the dark. The Tao of Linden went out the window ages ago

However, it's this author who is infuriating. Grrrr.

I've read somewhere years ago that people who have a bad experience with a business tell upwards of 11 others, and those who had good experience tell only 5. That being said, how can the BBB actually believe that thier ratings are accurate? I know that their ratings don't only come from customer complaints, but I'm guessing that it has to have alot to do with it. Maybe LL deserves it, I don't really know, but so far I have no complaints.

From what I gathered from the article on Linden Lab, the biggest factor in Linden Lab's rating seems to be being slow to respond to complaints, not necessarily the actual number.

remember that the BBB in question is a local office (bay area).... and that people generally don't bother complaining to local entities about international businesses.
