I removed the names to protect the innocent, but this occured at Nature's Way yesterday. Should I ban the offendor? I don't like banning people for offences I haven't personally witnessed. From: someone [16:57] <Name Removed>: Amy, I don't know if I'm overreacting, but there's a guy walking arond here not saying anything, messing with a cloaking device and he has a huge erection. His name is <Name Removed>. Also, he's using objects to launch people into the air. [17:14] <Name Removed>: Now he's spamming vehicles all over the beach. A permanent ban would be much appreciated.

Did you try talking to the guy? I'd do that and then ban him if he wouldn't stop being disruptive.

I wouldn't even talk to him. Eject/ban.

Why wouldn't you ban him? If there was anything innocent to it and he wants to come back he can always IM you and ask but orbiting people is sufficient justification for an ejection and ban.

Freeze and talk. If it's a non-house-trained idiot capable of clue, life is good. Otherwise eject and ban.

Are you managing this area or something? I am getting that impression. Then if you are responsable for the safety of your patrons, then ban away. Especially if its a nudist colony. Anything seen as 'taboo' will always attract people going there simply to cause problems. I just ban now and if they decide to ask me why then I explain, give them a warning and 1 more chance.

My vote is for perm banning the idiot.
I had a lady in my shop who was spamming everyone with a HUGE radius with an ad of some sort. So, when I got an IM complaining, I went and chatted with the offender. Turned out she had a hud that spammed and she didn't realize it was doing that.
That is an 'innocent' offense. Orbiting is instant ban.

To me you had two options and could have done both. (^_^)
1) Reply to the person suggesting an AR on their part. Launching people in the air is harassment/assult. Noobie McGriefer could have gotten better than a land ban for that. (^_^)
2) Show up to see it for yourself. If you weren't busy enough, you could have looked at the creep eye-to-eye and had sure reason to eject/ban the 'tard. (^_^)y

“walking around here not saying anything,…” Means he probably wouldn’t respond if you did try to talk to him. “messing with a cloaking device” Not sure what that means but it must have been scary enough for <Name Removed>#1 to mention. “has a huge erection.” pfft! “he’s using objects to launch people into the air.” Strike one. two and three. “Now he’s spamming…” just gravy. Eject. Ban. AR! IMO

Hard to imagine anyplace in SL where the behavior described would not be griefing that requires summary eject/ban for the sake of the other visitors and the reputation of the site.
The only room for doubt is whether the report is false (perhaps the complainer is the real griefer?) or true. Do you know the complainer? Do you trust him/her? If not, I'd say verify the complaint first. Perhaps talk to the alleged perp.
But once you are confident he is guilty, terminate him with extreme prejudice: eject/ban/AR without discussion. The message to the griefer and any griefer friends he might have is more effective when you do it that way. Mute is optional.
I have an alt that provides security to a popular place, and I follow this policy. Over time, the griefing has fallen off to practically zero, and the place is more popular and busier than ever.

Well, I think I will just ban then - seems a pity because most people who visit Nature's Way are very nice and respectful on the whole. I was sleeping at the time otherwise i would have enjoyed booting him personally From: someone eject/ban/AR without discussion

From: Amy Stork Well, I think I will just ban then - seems a pity because most people who visit Nature's Way are very nice and respectful on the whole. Not a pity. What is a pity is if you don't ban the trouble makers. Becomes a pity to all the ppl who follow the rules and show respect for one another. Banning Troublemakers is a hobby of mine Lissa
