hi guys. 2 friends and i are looking t buying a sim, thing is were not sure what were going to end up paying for tier as the SL website is giving us conflicting information.

this page:

tells us we will have to pay 295US/month
"Islands are priced at US$1,000 for 65,536 square meters (about 16 acres). Monthly land fees for maintenance are US$295."

where as my personal accounts land fee's page tells me that to tier up to a full region is only $195 US a month

so does this mean we will have to pay both the maintenance and the tier fee, or one but not the other or ... i dunno? for those of you with land we would really love to know some more info. thank you

mainland sims are $195 per month
private island estate sims are $295 per month

The benefits of private islands are amoung other things you can put your island where you want, and have more power over terraforming (you are not limited to the 4m from linden assigned height and can set the ground texture)

The 195 is the tier for owning mainland the size of a full region, though it doesn't actually have to *be* one region, but can be spread as small parcels all over the mainland.
The 295 is the monthly fee for a private island, which is one full region, where you have control over pretty much every aspect. -Notably, you can terraform it entirely to your taste.

You pay tier only for mainland, and the monthly fee only for private islands. The two are tallied entirely separately, and you can have any combination of the two you like.

Also if your island needs a reset you can do it yourself instead of waiting for a Linden. This is a biggie.
