Can I change back to the 'old me'?

I'm sure this is a stupid question, but I'll ask it anyway ...

When I first shed my noob look I bought a skin, some hair a male walk and some clothes and was pretty happy about my look.

Then I decided to change again and bought a 'shape' and an AO (which I still dont really understand).

I instantly turned into an 8' tall bald hulk. I bought some more hair that sat on top of my head like a cheap toupee and the attachments on my clothes (rolled up sleeves and collars) not longer fitted properly.

I can modify my shape and so I unpumped myself a bit and stretched my hair and edited my clothing attachments but I've now decided I'm sick of the whole thing and want to go back to old skinny me. It just doesnt look right. Remember when that alien climbs inside that guys skin in Men in Black? That's me.

My AO is wak and I spend most of my time stood on one leg holding my ear (brilliant) And when I land after a teleport I perform some sort of bizarre ballet maneovre.

Is there a way I can just get rid of 'Scott' (as my shape was called) and return to my old self?

(yes I said 'wak'. I'm hip, I'm with it. I'm 'down with the kids' :))

AlexLee, look in your Library folder of your inventory. I forget the folder, objects? clothes? anyway, you will find all the default avatar outfit folders :)

You should also find your old default avatar in your folders, too. Did you make an outfit with the old shape? If so, it should still be in one of your folders under the name you gave it.

EDIT: if not, search for 'shape' in your inventory. That should show all your old shapes.

Well it depends where you started. If you were on orientation island the they will be in you library folder. If you went to the other starting places and bought the freebie items to wear while you were learning how to walk etc, they will be in you inventory.

oh, sorry i have just reread. The first items between the newbie look and the bad look you found will be in your inventory. I am afraid that unless you created them in a folder you will have to find the individual items and 'wear' them. - Unless you bought it as one avatar. In which case it should all be in one folder and you can 'replace outfit' - just make sure you are somewhere safe in case you end up naked and bald in the middle of a public place lol.

If I read this correctly, you were using a default standard shape before, so Chas' suggestion should do the trick.

/me waves at Chas : where have you been hiding??

Ahhh I think I see.

My original shape was just the default one that you begin with. I fiddled around with it and changed the face and the height and so on until I was happy. So are you saying that somewhere in my inventory is the basic shape we all start with and if I wear this one I will 'ping' back to the old me?

I havent actually tried that to be honest so that is probably the answer.

And my rolled up sleeves that now fit Hulk Hogan (I bought them, I didnt make them myself) can I just zap them back to their original size or do I need to edit them back. I'm rubbish at editing and it took me about an hour to get them looking right last night on my big AV before I decided I wanted to be slim again.

Claire - Scott was the name of the shape in the shop. He's from New Zealand apparently. :)

yes, if you find the shape in your library folder, and choose to wear it, you will revert to that shape. You can then edit it. - you may want to save a copy of the editted shape and rename it so you know what it is.
The sleeves though, you will have to edit. Unless you made a copy of them before you editted them in the first place.
I realised Scott was the one you hated after I posted lol. sorry :o

You see, it's not that I *hate* Scott. I mean he's a nice guy and everything. But he just annoys me. He bugs me the way he struts about like he owns the bloody place. And he keeps crashing. Oh sure he's gorgeous and I'm sure the women would love him but ..... well he's just not me. And another thing .......

Oh my god I'm taking this far too seriously.

Waves back at Sally. Happy New Year! Just spent three weeks in the middle of nowhere, cut off completely from the so-called civilized world. It was great!

Hey Alex - what I would do, after you find the "old" you ... is save your old appearance as a name you can easily search for in your inventory. Like, say "Alex." ;-)

Go into appearance mode, and then instead of saving your shape - choose to "save as" and name your shape. Then put it in a folder - say "Body" or something ... that is associated with- you know - the right type of folder. =)

That way, if you ever get the desire to change again, you can revert back to "Alex." And - if you ever change the old appearance - save it as "Alex 1" then "Alex 2" so you can eventually revert back to what you had!

Just a suggestion - I've found it helps me.

This is a really good plan, and I would suggest putting a simple texture outfit - no prim parts - in the folder along wioth your shape, skin, eyes etc. If you name the folder **Alex with a couple of asterisks in front of the name, it will pop to the top of your inventory (assuming you have that in name order ) and be easy peasy to find whenever you want to go back to your everyday look.

Hi Alex - welcome to Sl. I think your old shape could well be in your inventory under "Body Parts". Remember that you have to have a shape and a skin - they are two different things - and you can't take them off. What you do is replace the one your avatar is using by wearing another.

... Just thought I'd add that in case you got confused as I did when I was a noob.

Alex, since you changed the original default shape until you were happy with it, the changed one will, I believe, actually be in your Body Parts folder. It will be named the same thing as the original one (like "City Chic Guy" or whatever) in your library, but only the one in Body Parts will have the changes you made.

I don't believe you can actually change anything in the library, can you? If you change a library item and save it, I think it saves to your non-library folders.

An AO is Animation Overide. To dump it do a search for 'worn' in your inventory. The item normally have AO in it, just dump it and put on your old AO. At least you won't be a dancer anymore on landings.

About that toupee, Alex/Scott...

That's prim hair, and you're seeing the ugly default avatar hair underneath it. When you wear prim hair, you also have to wear a "bald head" hair object, to hide the default hair. There should be one in the outfit you bought. if not, search your inventory for "bald" and see if there's one in there. If not, stop by Calla's and pick up the free Jack In A Box or free men's hairstyle at the front counter. There's a baldie in there.

After that, if your new hair still doesn't fit...

Find a posing stand (most clothing stores have some, and there are many freebies out there). First, make a safety copy of your hair and paste it to a folder in your inventory, in case of goofs. Then stand on the pose stand. Right click your hair and use the edit tools to reposition and/or resize it. Be sure to move your camera around yourself to check for any bald spots.

You could also go into appearance/hair and make yourself bald, then save it as Bald. But make sure you've saved your current hair first, if you want to use it again.
