Sometimes I am just sitting there and poof, booted out of SL and then told I am locked out for 5 minutes. No reason. Like right now. Don't expect LL do really do anything about my individual problem but I have 5 minutes to kill before I can go back to work so thanks for nothing!

When this happens to me I just keep trying to log in until it lets me in. Usually on the second try it works; it takes like 5 seconds.

HatHead...
That is usually the result of a "non-complete" log-out... the system is simply giving you an estimate of 5 minutes for it to clean up your previous "presence" state.

When you crash, your client didn't tell the server you where logging out. Therefore the server still thinks your logged in, it then has to wait a certain amount of time to decide you are indeed no longer in world and then close off all the database access's your client has created, tidy up then allow you back in. Totally standard online thing.
