Its been a while since we lost 'Live Help'. With this an attack on the sim could be reported directly before it could be crashed. The lindens took this away. Maybe the lindens got lazy, or they decided to help the paying members over the free members who pretty much make the most of secondlife. But this is when the griefers were free to attack the sim and bring it down for their kicks.
We were left to fend for ourselves if we ever wanted to use this sim. Some of us didn't really have any other sims to go to since we got used to this sandbox so we attacked the griefers. This reduced the chance of griefers getting their way dramatically because griefers can't really do much to the sim when they are being orbited to extreme highs, crushed into the ground until their client crash, or being blinded by prims. Unsitters and weapons that could send avatars through the walls into uselessness. A whole onslaught if weapons to prevent their attacks. But the lindens get a load of this and they call US griefers. We DEFEND ourselves and the sim against griefers because the lindens refuse. Who are the real griefers here?
If you lindens truly dispise griefing, then help Weapons testing out. If you refuse, then at least allow return fire.

Be careful how you deal with griefers. Keep cool and fight smart. And AR, AR, AR, because you create a "paper" trail that way. And be prepared for the risk that you may have to take some lumps anyway. The Lindens don't really like griefers anymore than you do, but sometimes their hands are tied by their own "rules of engagement."

One in particular thats been reported over 50 times. Yet he recently attacked everyone in the sim not too long ago.

The Lindens probably took Live Help away because people were using it to report griefer attacks when that's not what it was for. People abused it, a bit like this forum

And if alt would be used, ban him/her again... Most griefers give up after one or two alts.... If they continue after that there is mostly more going on and then I am getting started to be interested in the complete story. Morwen.

From: Katana Redgrave Its a linden sim. You mean as The Welcome-area? All AR's I placed there were acted on. Or do you mean mainland, then you have still to do with owners. Morwen.

Morwen. Its an island. Search 'sandbox' on the map and you will find it. Look for yourself.

Morwen. LL operates a number of "public" sandboxes on the mainland. The Lindens are the "owners" there. The Lindens do nothing there. If you want to see what SL would be like if everyone tried to "ignore" or tp away from griefers or depend on ARs to 100 desperately overburdened Lindens trying to hold the grid together when trying to deal with 1,000 (or more) very determined griefers, go visit those public sandboxes and hang out there for a while. They are a potentially valuable Resident resource often rendered virtually useless. Effective deterrence is necessary. Katana, we all gotta do what we gotta do.

I've been to the other sandboxes. But i left them because of /b/tards. And i can't go back now because everytime i do my client freezes. Really didn't do this before the voice thing... but thats for another thread.
And im sorry the lindens never prepaired for this sort of work.

Sounds like the key to not getting attacked is to not hang out in a public sandbox!
I rarely had a problem back in my sandbox days. But then again I always picked the least populated sandboxes to work on things. Nothing's more annoying than hearing "woot woot" over and over again from the group of furries in the corner while you're working!

I dont think you understand that the WT sandbox used to be a calm place to be - people asked before they tested, there wasnt any spam or extreme litter... That place was/is my home since I very started, as well as many MANY others. You cant just ditch a place that you basically grew up in because the people who own it just gave up.

That's what we do in real life. When the hoodlums move in and the powers that be do nothing, it's time to move on.

Find one of the private sandboxes that require a group invitation to get in. Those tend to be a lot less hassle.

LL doesn`t cares, best to find a new place wich they haven`t discoverd yet i understamd why joker and katana are mad at LL and its not even about the griefer that just comes in to randomly shoot up the place its about the griefers that likes to come and dump all their inventory out in the sandbox, all they are asking LL to do is lower the return time to 20 minutes or less From: Beezle Warburton Find one of the private sandboxes that require a group invitation to get in. yeah they could do that but them sand boxes come with strict rules that usually includes no weapons(this may include no building weapons and no testing them) i may have not known them long but ever since i logged on to SL they have always been there and at that time there was no huge mess like it is now. their group has designated the wepons testing sandbox as their home and all they want is some positve response from LL

From: Joker Opus In in RL if hoodlums barged into my home, id grab the baretta under my bed, and call the authorities. You dont simply give in because someone has no sence of hostpitality - the only differance about RL and SL authorities is if I called the Lindens, I'd get an automatic message saying 'support a ticket', and get an answer within 5 days. But you are talking about a PUBLIC sandbox here, not your home, right?

From: Jack Sakigake But you are talking about a PUBLIC sandbox here, not your home, right? The definition of home here has something to do with being so used to hanging out there. If you get used to something its gonna be a little hard to change.
