QUESTION is:
If your main avatar has a premium account do any of your alts receive that staus? I guess I'm asking if you have an alt do you need to pay for it to get premium staus, own land on ml in its name?

You have to pay for every premium account.

Could someone please give me a definition of what an Alt is exactly? I know in general and understand the term when it's used, but as an example, I have my original SJackB Northman account which is a premium account. To change my name to something more meaningful, I opened a second premium account (/me here). Is one or the other an alt? They both have the same RL email address on the account and I don't hide the fact that they are both controlled by /me. Newb'ing along briskly...Jackie

Each account that you want "Premium" perks for, you must upgrade to Premium and pay for those perks. If you have one Premium account and 5 alts, the alts have no speciel benefits. But if you choose to upgrade two of those alts to Premium, and pay the dues n them, those two, but not the remaining three, would then also be Premium, with all the asociated perks.
The stipend you get after upgrading is apparently based on initial accoun creation date, or the most recent date the account was switched to Basic, so if you had a really old alt that had never been Premium, and upgraded it to Premium, it gets the grandfathered older stipend rate. But if that account later downgrades to Basic, then upgrades back to Premiun, it would be at the current stipend rate

Your first account doesn't necessarily have to be your most frequently used one. Many people consider an alt created later to now be their current Main account, and may refer to their first one as an alt.

Often here, the first account created is considered the main, and any others are the alts. However, many consider the account used the most or that the person identifies with the most as the main. Damien is my main account, Zeus is used only for building and to have a second permanent member of my land group. ETA: Or what Ceera said.
